Paige Beverly shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Paige, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
My clients surprise me with each and every session; I think the most surprising thing I’ve learned about them is that I will learn something from them each time! They consistently challenge me with a new way to think and a new way to teach or convey information, because no two students are the same. It pushes me and drives me to be a better educator!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello Canvas Rebel readers! My name is Paige Beverly, and I’m a local business owner of a tutoring company called The Tutoring Paige, as well as being busy a mom and special educator. I have a Bachelor’s degree in French and Education, a Master’s degree in Special Education, and a passion for empowering young minds. I have 7 years of experience in tutoring, coaching, and teaching within diverse settings, including schools and organizations in Baltimore and Belgium,
The vision for my business extends beyond conventional tutoring. My ultimate goal is to create a nurturing environment where neurotypical youth and those with high incidence and low incidence disabilities alike can thrive. I have a strong dedication to individualized learning tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs. My tutoring and mentoring business promises opportunities for growth and success for all.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My incredible parents are to thank for my work ethic. Growing up, I saw them go above and beyond in various job and career opportunities to provide for my sister and I. Unintentionally, they taught me that exploring unconventional opportunities can lead to something greater for you, and that challenging yourself in the work force can help you achieve things you never thought possible.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self “you are more than just a brain; you are creative and original, and capable of handling anything life throws at you.” I have often let the anxiety and fear of the unknown stifle me from pursuing different things in life, but those obstacles that I couldn’t avoid taught me the strength and creativity I possessed.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My faith in God is the most important thing; the people closest to me in my life know that I lean on prayer and conversation with God to guide me throughout everything in life. Without my faith base, I do not have the strength, compassion and drive that has carried me through my motherhood, my journey as a small business owner, and as a woman finding her way.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m resting and spending time with my family. Being with my partner, my son, my bonus babies and my other family members eases my mind. I can thrive in my authenticity with no judgement, and with others who truly understand me and share in my same values.
