Story & Lesson Highlights with Natasha Titi Muniz of Baltimore City

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Natasha Titi Muniz. Check out our conversation below.

Natasha Titi, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of the relationships I am building with my students and community in the Brooklyn area of Baltimore City.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Natasha “Titi” Muniz — an artist, educator, and creative entrepreneur based in Baltimore. I’ve dedicated my life to empowering others through art — both in and outside the classroom. By day, I teach visual arts to Baltimore City youth, helping them discover their voice and purpose through creativity. Beyond the classroom, I’m the founder of The Urban Canvas, Seeds of Society, and Paper Ceilings — brands that blend art, culture, and community.

Each brand carries its own story:

The Urban Canvas publishes coloring books and art resources that celebrate culture, creativity, and representation.

Seeds of Society is a street wear line that speaks to rebellion, resilience, and purpose — it’s about planting creative seeds and breaking cycles.

Paper Ceilings is about motivation and breaking barriers — a reminder that the only limits we face are the ones we accept.

What makes my work unique is that it’s all rooted in community impact and authentic storytelling. Everything I create — whether it’s a children’s book, a classroom project, or a hoodie design — is meant to inspire others to see themselves as artists, dreamers, and change-makers. Right now, I’m working on expanding my youth art initiatives, publishing new bilingual books, and launching upcoming fashion drops that merge art and activism.

At the heart of everything I do is one mission: to help people unlock their purpose and see creativity as a tool for transformation.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
In high school I was in JROTC and I had an instructor named Major Davis. Now mind you its high school- and everyone is trying to fit in, find themselves and just have fun. I loved the structure that JROTC gave me but had a problem with authority at the same time, so I often did childish and sometimes rebellious things. I became one of the drill team commanders but Major Davis sat me down and hat a little chat with me because now I am in a position where my team is looking at me. She told me something that has stuck with me to this day. She said Natasha you are a natural born leader and people will look to you but you need to make sure you are leading in the right direction. At the time it didn’t mean too much but as I have grown, fallen, dusted myself off and got back up again- that conversation made a lasting impression on me and motivates me to be a strong and positive role model to everyone around me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self it would be…. stay focused baby, you will do great things. Keep grinding, stay creative and your feet will fill rooms with global opportunities.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Pride and Family First! I am very close with my immediate family and it is an unbreakable bond that has only grown stronger since my father’s passing. We are each other’s support systems, counselors, loan sharks and accountability partners. We are also very proud to be Dominican and Puerto Rican because despite all the pain and struggle my people have been through we still stand tall.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop stressing out. Life is too short and the days are moving too fast.
