Story & Lesson Highlights with Jasmir Antoine of Norfolk

Jasmir Antoine shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jasmir, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up, pray, do my hygiene, and head to the gym.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Jasmir, and I’m in my early 20s. I’m the proud founder and CEO of Jadorablex Creations, a growing beauty brand I started back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a hobby learning and practicing makeup quickly evolved into something much bigger—today, Jadorablex Creations is a one-stop beauty destination that provides affordable, high-quality services all in one place.

Our unique “Package Deals” allow clients to have their makeup, hair, and nails done at the same time, saving them time and money. The bundle service is especially budget-friendly and ideal for group bookings, weddings, and special events. We cater to all styles—from soft, natural glam to bold, dramatic transformations. Nail services range from custom press-ons to Gel-X and Polygel sets for both hands and feet. On the hair side, we offer a range of services, from weave installations to natural styling.

What makes Jadorablex Creations truly special is the affordability and convenience. For example, you can come in for a makeup session and leave with a full set of custom press-on nails for both your hands and feet, often saving over $100 compared to booking each service separately.

We’re currently expanding into the organic and herbal skincare space, offering natural solutions that are both gentle and effective. I’m also in the process of opening a physical shop, which will allow us to better serve our growing clientele in a welcoming and professional environment.

With a strong foundation in science—I’m currently finishing my bachelor’s degree in chemistry—I’m passionate about understanding the ingredients and chemical interactions behind beauty products. This knowledge helps me create products and offer services that are not only effective but also safe and beneficial for the skin and body.

My goal with Jadorablex Creations is to make beauty affordable, accessible, and empowering. I believe that taking care of yourself, even in small ways, can boost confidence, save money, and improve your overall well-being. Whether it’s preparing for a big day or simply treating yourself, Jadorablex Creations is here to make sure you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of the most defining moments for me was attending college. Coming straight out of high school, I was suddenly faced with creating my own path—and I came out of the gate swinging, determined to make the most of every opportunity. I joined over 15 organizations, proudly served on Norfolk State University’s Royal Court as Miss 1935 for 2023–2024, and even became a part of the NSU Lacrosse Team.

Although I thrived in the spotlight and enjoyed the recognition that came with it, I eventually realized that I felt most fulfilled working behind the scenes, making things happen and creating impact away from the limelight. I discovered my passion for serving others and building up my community.

One example of this is my involvement in Pamper Her, an annual event that honors and spoils mothers who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford beauty or luxury services. I volunteer my skills to help them feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

College wasn’t always easy. Balancing a heavy course load pushed me to my limits, but it also taught me how to rise to challenges, fight for what I want, and build structure and discipline into my life. In the process, I lost myself for a moment, but I also found a new identity rooted in Christ, which now serves as the foundation for everything I do.

These experiences have completely reshaped how I view the world. They’ve opened my eyes to how vast, beautiful, and interconnected life is. But more importantly, they’ve reminded me of the power of giving back, staying grounded, and serving with purpose.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to pivot, adapt, and keep going—even when nothing is going the way I planned, and even when I feel like I have nothing left to give. While success can be rewarding, it never taught me resilience the way struggle did.

As a full-time college student and business owner, I’ve had to make countless sacrifices. There were moments when I had to pause services, change my schedule, miss out on events, or operate on very little sleep. I learned that sometimes you have to adjust your availability, search for new vendors, restock inventory on a tight budget, or even completely rebrand your business to keep up with changing demands. There were weeks when I questioned whether it was all worth it—but pushing through those hard seasons made me stronger.

Suffering also taught me how to lean into faith, to trust the process, and to understand that delays aren’t denials. I found that adversity developed my character and work ethic in ways that success never could. It reminded me to stay humble, stay focused, and keep showing up—even when things aren’t glamorous.

Most importantly, suffering reminded me of my “why.” It deepened my desire to serve others, to build a brand that’s rooted in purpose, accessibility, and healing, and to make room for people who just need to feel seen and valued.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that I’m deeply creative, God-fearing, and unapologetically dedicated to living a life rooted in faith. They often describe me as someone who not only talks about Christ but truly lives according to His teachings—loving what He loves, standing against what He stands against, and striving daily to reflect His light.

What they admire most is my commitment and consistency. I don’t just practice my faith when it’s convenient—I carry it into everything I do, from my business to my personal relationships. Whether I’m serving clients, studying for exams, or creating beauty through my brand, I always try to keep Christ at the center.

Many of my friends have supported me in this journey. Some even join me in worship, attend bible studies, or take part in community service events I’m involved in. They appreciate that I create a safe space where faith is not just practiced but celebrated. I think they would also say that I inspire them to deepen their own relationship with God by the way I live mine.

At the end of the day, what matters most to me is honoring God, living with purpose, and using my gifts to serve others. Everything else flows from that.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in sabbatical and fasting—those sacred moments where I intentionally disconnect from the noise of the world. No TV, no social media—just quiet, stillness, prayer, and reflection. These times allow me to realign spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

During a sabbatical, I follow a meaningful routine that begins with prayer, followed by cardio and weightlifting. Taking care of my body becomes part of my worship—it’s a way to honor the temple God has given me. Without the constant distractions of online life, I find myself spending more quality time with family and friends, reconnecting with loved ones in a deeper way.

I also dive into my creative passions, working on my crafts and perfecting the skills that fuel both my business and my joy. It’s in this space—where I’m grounded in faith, surrounded by loved ones, and doing what I love—that I feel a deep and lasting peace. It’s beautiful, intentional, and soul-refreshing—a reminder that peace doesn’t come from what we consume, but from what we nurture within.
