We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Eric Holmes and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Eric, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is early morning prayer then head to work. After working eight hours going home and taking a nap. Then getting up and working on my vision, dreams and goals.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dr. Eric L. Holmes (aka Dr. E) A essential employee of 28 years for John’s Hopkins. A international best-selling author and certified international speaker. I am a award winning author. Dr. Holmes is the founder of Dr. Eric L. Holmes Enterprise LLC. Ceo and Visionary of The Power Of The Pen The Author’s Expo. A graduate of Global Speakers University (GSU). And lastly working on a journal to my first book The Powe Of The Seed.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The first person who saw me before I could see myself was my Mother rest her soul. She always spoke life and told me I would be great and do great things. My mother always said how special I was.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When my mother transitioned it was a very hard time. Part of my heart was gone. It was so sudden and I felt like I was lost. It was the most painful thing I experienced. But one thing I heard that kept me going was I could hear my mother saying quitting is not an option keep going. And with hearing that I kept going.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire many people that has enriched my life. One would be my oldest sister Paula who was like a second mom. My former pastor the Late Apostle Robert Evans. My current pastor and first lady Bishop Richard Pender Sr. and Dr. Patricia Pender. The dean of my school Dr. Cheryl Wood Global Speakers University (GSU) Dr. Cheryl Polote-Williamson. And lastly Dr. Redonda Miller. Many more that has enriched my life.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story and legacy I would like to leave would be he lived, he inspired he uplifted and encouraged others. That I let my light shine for others to me. I made a difference and impact in the lives of others.
