Story & Lesson Highlights with Brittany Veney of Middle River

We recently had the chance to connect with Brittany Veney and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
It’s not that I was afraid, it’s that I didn’t have clarity. For a long time, I knew I was meant to do more than design beautiful brands. I’ve helped so many women build something impactful, yet I hadn’t fully stepped into my own story. Recently, I had that “a-ha” moment which was the realization that my real calling is to build a movement.

I’m being called to build Brand Your Exit which is a bold and empowering space for women who are ready to walk away from what no longer serves them and step into purpose-driven, profitable brand building. It’s more than a community; it’s a declaration that we don’t have to stay stuck in roles, jobs, or narratives that limit us. We get to rewrite the script.

Brand Your Exit is where legacy meets liberation. And now that I’ve found the clarity, I’m not holding back.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brittany Veney, CEO and Creative Director of B. Real Creative Studio, where we specialize in brand and website design for high-impact entrepreneurs, organizations, and industry leaders. I’m a self-taught designer with a background in law and public administration, but more than anything, I’m a visionary who believes that clarity, creativity, and confidence can change your life.

What makes my brand special is that I don’t just create visuals. I build brands with soul and strategy. My work lives at the intersection of story and success. My clients aren’t just getting a logo or a website, they’re building legacy.

Right now, I’m focused on launching a powerful initiative called Brand Your Exit, a platform and movement for women who are ready to build profitable brands so they can confidently walk away from what no longer serves them. It’s deeply personal. After years of building brands for others, I realized I needed to give myself permission to do the same, not just as a creative, but as a woman who has lived through reinvention, resilience, and release.

This is just the beginning. I’m building something that not only helps women launch brands, but lives.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that shrunk to make others comfortable. The version of me that played it safe, downplayed her talent, and over-delivered in silence, hoping someone would finally see her value. That part of me helped me survive, but it can’t help me lead.

I’ve outgrown the need for permission.

Now, I’m walking fully in purpose, choosing visibility over invisibility, clarity over confusion, and alignment over approval. Releasing that old version of myself is what gave birth to Brand Your Exit. It’s not just a movement, it’s a mirror for every woman who knows there’s more inside of her but has been waiting for the “right time” to show up. That time is now.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I recently changed my mind about what success has to look like. For a long time, I believed success meant checking the boxes: the degrees, the career, the titles, the stability. And I had all of that. But I still felt unfulfilled, like I was building someone else’s dream while ignoring my own.

What I realized is that alignment is more important than accolades. I gave myself permission to pivot and to walk away from a secure federal job and bet on my own brand full-time. It wasn’t just about leaving a paycheck behind; it was about leaving behind the mindset that I had to choose safety over self-belief.

That decision was the turning point. It’s what led me to build Brand Your Exit and help others redefine success on their terms, too.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads are surface-level trends that often come with hype but little longevity. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, change how we think, show up, and build. I’ve learned to look beyond what’s popular and pay attention to what actually produces transformation.

In branding and business, I ask:

Is this solving a real problem?

Does it align with long-term vision and values?

Will it still matter when the algorithm changes or the spotlight moves on?

That’s how I knew Brand Your Exit wasn’t a moment, it was a movement. It wasn’t born out of a viral trend but out of a personal and collective need for women to build brands that support their freedom, not just their feeds.

Real shifts create legacy. And I’m committed to building legacy over hype, every time.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I’ve had to. In fact, some of my best work was done in silence with no applause and no recognition, just me showing up because I knew the assignment was bigger than the moment.

As a woman, a mother, a builder, I’ve learned that praise can be fleeting, but purpose is permanent. I don’t create for claps. I create for change. And I’ve learned to be proud of the work even when no one’s watching, because I’m watching. And that’s enough.

The truth is, every brand I’ve built, every strategy I’ve designed, every life I’ve touched through my work, it wasn’t for praise. It was for impact. And if I had waited for validation, I’d still be waiting. Now I move with conviction, not permission.

So yes, I can and I have. Because my legacy doesn’t require an audience, just authenticity.
