Shandraneka Orr shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Shandraneka, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I take time out for MYSELF ! The kids children are t allowed to talk to me and i listen to high frequency music. Mostly self affirming music made by women (like-minded). I do my skin care routine and do all the things that make me feel good about myself before I start each day. Unbothered , no phone ! No scrolling on IG !
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shandraneka Orr, but most people know me as Bippedbybae — a creative director, author, and entrepreneur born and raised in Baltimore. I’m the founder of Bipped by Bae LLC, where I specialize in branding, media strategy, and design.
What makes my work unique is that I don’t just create visuals or campaigns — I create experiences and ecosystems for people and brands to thrive in. Everything I build, from my book Shadowbanned, But Not Silenced to my Substack column The Bippology Report, ties back to a mission of giving voice, visibility, and power to creatives who are often overlooked, especially women and Black entrepreneurs.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding, growing my media platforms, and building Bippology into a full media experience. At the core of everything I do, I want people to feel seen, inspired, and motivated to chase their visions with no apologies.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was just a Baltimore girl trying to survive. I was caught between the fast life and my true calling, and for a while, the streets felt like the only option. But deep down, I always knew I wanted more — not just for myself, but for the young people watching me.
I had to make a decision: stay in a cycle that could destroy me, or rise up and create a different path. Choosing myself meant choosing to lead, to create, and to build something that could show the youth that there’s power in your story, no matter where you come from.
That’s why I go so hard with my brands and my media work — because it’s not just about me, it’s about being living proof that you can rewrite the narrative and use your platform to inspire the next generation.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Some of the deepest wounds of my life came from being overlooked, underestimated, and silenced — both in the streets and in the digital world. I’ve faced shadowbans online and barriers in real life, and for a long time it felt like no matter how hard I worked, my voice was being muted. That pain of invisibility shaped me, but it also pushed me to create louder, bigger, and more unapologetically.
My book, Shadowbanned, But Not Silenced, was born out of that journey. It’s part memoir, part media guide, and part empowerment tool — written to help other creators, especially Black women, navigate spaces that weren’t built for us. Writing it was healing, because I turned my wounds into wisdom.
Healing, for me, has looked like embracing my truth, finding faith in my purpose, and using my platforms to amplify voices that deserve to be heard. I no longer see my wounds as setbacks — they’re the blueprint that made me Bippedbybae.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and no. The public version of me — Bippedbybae — is definitely real, but it’s also a curated piece of me. What people see online or at events is the fearless entrepreneur, the creative director, the author, the one who makes everything look polished and put together. That’s real, but it’s not the full story.
The private me is softer, more vulnerable, and still working through the same struggles as everyone else. I still have doubts, I still feel the weight of where I came from, and I still have moments where I’m just Shandraneka from Baltimore, figuring it out.
I think the difference is that the public me is the version I created to inspire and lead, while the private me is the one that remembers why I started. Both are real — one is the brand, the other is the heartbeat behind it.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
If there’s anything I would regret, it would be not fully walking in my purpose. I know what it feels like to be silenced, ignored, or boxed in, and my biggest fear is leaving this earth without using my voice to its fullest power.
That’s why I wrote Shadowbanned, But Not Silenced — because I didn’t want my story, or the lessons I’ve lived through, to just sit in my head. The book became my way of breaking that silence and leaving behind something that could outlive me.
I would regret not giving my all to the youth, my community, and the people who see themselves in me. I’d regret not building the platforms and spaces that make them feel seen. My mission has always been bigger than me — so my only real regret would be if I let fear, or the world, convince me to dim my light.
That’s why I’m pouring into projects like Bippology Media, My managment company for the underground talents of the world and mentorship work with young people — because these aren’t just brands, they’re legacies in the making. I’m making sure I live my life in a way where regret has no room to grow.
