Selena Britton of Baltimore on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Selena Britton and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Selena , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings are intentional and structured to set the pace for the day. I usually start with a 5:30 meditation to clear my head and begin with peace. From there, it’s coffee, emails, and reviewing my schedule before checking in with my assistant. By 9:00, I’m leading our staff meeting, and if it’s a Monday, we go right into marketing updates and new implementations.

The rest of the morning is spent balancing priorities researching and pitching to new clients, coordinating drivers for multiple events happening the same day, prepping our van or truck, and overseeing event setups or breakdowns. I also make time for client touch points and follow-ups to keep communication strong. By the end of the day, I carve out space to rest and reset so I can stay grounded for everything ahead.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My journey into events started long before I officially entered the industry. I grew up surrounded by the hustle of catering . My father was the first entrepreneur in our family, and his business became the backdrop of my childhood. Watching him turn a dream into a thriving company taught me early on about resilience, creativity, and the power of service. To a young girl, that was more than inspiring—it was life-changing.

That foundation shaped who I am today. As a luxury event planner, I’ve built my company with the same entrepreneurial spirit, but with my own vision: creating events that don’t just look beautiful, but feel deeply personal. What sets my brand apart is the balance between precision and heart—we manage logistics seamlessly, design with innovation, and always put the client’s story at the center.

This work is more than planning parties, it’s about honoring legacies, celebrating milestones, and crafting moments that linger long after the last guest leaves. That’s the difference my team and I bring to every event, and it’s the standard that has set us apart among industry leaders.

To me, luxury is not about excess—it’s curating an experience so intentional, so exclusive, so elegant it becomes the standard others measure against.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds break the same way events unravel when trust slips, communication falters, or the little details are overlooked. But just like in planning, restoration comes with intention. Listening, showing up consistently, and pouring care into the process turns fragile connections into lasting ones. That’s where the magic is not in perfection, but in the heart behind it.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely, more than once. This year has been one of the hardest. I questioned everything. The economy has shifted, people are understandably hesitant to spend, and so many companies are restructuring. There were moments where the weight of it all felt overwhelming, and I wondered if pushing forward was even possible.

But in those low points, I’ve always found subtle reminders that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Sometimes it’s a client sharing how their event created a once-in-a-lifetime memory. Other times it’s the quiet reflection of remembering where I started—watching my father build a business from scratch and understanding the grit it takes to create something lasting.

Those reminders keep me grounded. They’ve taught me that the hardest seasons are also the refining ones—they test your resilience, your vision, and your faith. And each time I’ve felt close to giving up, I’ve come back stronger, more focused, and more certain that this work isn’t just my career—it’s my calling.

“Challenges don’t signal the end—they refine your purpose and strengthen your resolve.”

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say family matters most to me. Everything I do, personally and professionally is rooted in love, support, and creating moments that bring people together. Family is the lens through which I live, lead, and plan.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they’ll say that I made them feel truly seen and valued. That I didn’t just plan events I created experiences that brought people together, celebrated their milestones, and left lasting memories. More than the logistics or the design, I want the story to be about connection, care, and the way I showed up for the people around me. That’s the legacy I hope to leave.
