Today, we’d like to introduce you to Toni S. Brown.
Hi Toni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. Before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a creative spark, from making clothes for my Barbies to diving into web design when the Internet became a thing. Combining creativity with technology sparked my entrepreneurial spirit.
After 15 years in the legal field, I made the leap to full-time entrepreneurship in 2010, founding Skye Media Group. My goal was to use my creative and technical skills to help mission-driven organizations and leaders. At first, I thought having a logo and website was enough, but I quickly learned that building a successful brand involves much more.
Through my experiences, I realized how crucial personal branding, brand strategy, and effective messaging are. I faced challenges in generating consistent income and clearly articulating my expertise, which taught me the true essence of building an authentic brand. These lessons gave me a deep understanding of the branding landscape.
My journey has equipped me with extensive expertise in branding and design, especially in helping women entrepreneurs create authentic, impactful brands. I’ve worked with and educated women across the nation, inspired by my mother’s teachings. This approach has helped me grow an engaged audience and build a supportive community.
Today, I share my knowledge through workshops, consulting, and engaging content, guiding women entrepreneurs to focus on what truly matters for their business growth and success. My mission is to empower women to build authentic personal brands that resonate and create lasting impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
While building my brand and business, I’ve faced several challenges. Initially, there were limited resources and support networks for women entrepreneurs, making it difficult to find guidance and mentorship.
Balancing the demands of growing business with raising my daughter and navigating a turbulent personal relationship that led to divorce added significant stress. Additionally, I had to learn many aspects of running a business through trial and error, which often felt overwhelming and isolating.
Despite these struggles, my determination to succeed and make a difference has kept me moving forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
When it comes to risk-taking, I believe it’s essential for personal and professional growth. While I don’t see myself as an extreme risk-taker, I embrace calculated risks that align with my goals and values.
One major risk I took was transitioning from a stable career in the legal field to starting my own branding agency, Skye Media Group. It was a leap of faith to leave behind the predictability of a corporate job to pursue my passion for creativity and entrepreneurship. This decision involved financial uncertainty and stepping out of my comfort zone, but it has been incredibly rewarding.
I view risk as an opportunity for learning and innovation. It’s about weighing potential outcomes, identifying opportunities for growth, and being prepared to pivot if needed. Risk-taking requires courage, resilience, and a willingness to learn from successes and setbacks.
In my work with women entrepreneurs, I often encourage them to embrace calculated risks in their branding and business strategies. Whether it’s becoming the face of their brand, expanding their services, or rebranding to better align with their vision, taking calculated risks can lead to breakthroughs and transformative growth.
Ultimately, my perspective on risk is rooted in thoughtful planning, strategic thinking, and a willingness to embrace change and challenge. It’s about finding the balance between ambition and practicality, pushing boundaries while staying true to core values and long-term objectives.
