Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunshine Davis
Hi Sunshine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Some are familiar with my initial story and interview with voyage but to the new comers, here goes….
Hey! I’m Sunshine but some know me as Ashley but either is fine. I started Nevaeh’s Place 11/2019 after having a traumatic experience with depression and anxiety. I started beading by accident and without knowing, my thoughts had faded and I began to feel at peace. It was very comforting for me. Then after losing my job during Covid, I began beading more, vending, teaching classes and finding a tribe of like minded individuals who understood me. It became very therapeutic to me. My craft literally saved me in more ways than one. I’m grateful for being able to turn my craft into a passionate business that I’ve been sustaining for over 4 years now.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think we all experience struggles in life when it comes to work and working for yourself. I would say, my struggles have been minimal compared to my experiences working for someone else. I learn from my struggles, try to do better and I give myself grace.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Baltimore native with an infectious personality driven to provide adornments for all walks of life. I create handmade luxury jewelry and sell crystals to heal the mind, body and soul. I’m most known for my handmade crystal waistbead and my bead insurance. I also host bead making workshops and parties with a local henna artist who happens to be my best friend. I’m an admire of all things black and support diversity within the community.
I think what sets me apart from others, is my passion to stand out and my personality. I truly love what I do and I love making others feel good about themselves. I’m most proud of the loving community that I’m gratefully apart of and that’s consistently growing.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My best advice to those who are starting out is to just do it! Don’t think about it, don’t second guess yourself and don’t worry about what anyone has to say. Life is too short and you only have one life to live so be expressive and take that leap. The ones who are suppose to be there will stay and support no matter what and the ones who don’t, that’s their loss.
