Rising Stars: Meet Sierra Bass of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Bass.

Hi Sierra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A lot of my recent adult business ventures came from battling postpartum depression, 1600 miles away from home as a military wife and stay at home mom. I gave birth to my youngest son in 2021, I was about 13 weeks postpartum when I decided to do an at home workout for postpartum moms on YouTube. I quickly realized I couldn’t remember how to do a basic body weight squat. It’s like my brain knew what to do but my muscles sort of “forgot.”

I cried for a long time but I knew nobody was coming to save me. I had to fight back and hard. I began my content creation journey with the goal of educating women, mothers and their support systems on the postpartum experience. By 2022 I lost over 40lbs of my pregnancy weight gain. I started, Si Fit Be Fit an online coaching program in which I offer 3 different packages.

Walking has always been the most utilized tool on my personal fitness journeys. In April of 2025 I created Steppin’ Thru The City an all women’s walk club here in Baltimore City and County. What started as 3 or 4 women showing up has turned into 25 – 28 women showing up weekly.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. To build something publicly while privately fighting battles with little, to no understanding or empathy isn’t easy. The biggest struggle is imposter syndrome, I say is instead of was because I sometimes still feel as if I’m not fit for this mission.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most known for Steppin’ Thru The City! Saturdays have become a staple in a lot of women’s lives around Baltimore city and county! I’m most proud of pulling myself out of that dark space and using my own hardships to educate and relate to other women and moms.

I’m not here for competition. The only person I compete with, is the woman I was yesterday and I actually mean that. I also genuinely want and believe we can all win.

What were you like growing up?
Whew. I was a tom boy growing up. Like a really really rough tom boy. The neighborhood I grew up in, which was in Long Branch New Jersey, I would often play football, manhunt, and participate in tree climbing contests with the other neighborhood kids.

In middle school, life at home got rough and I started getting into trouble and eventually it led to situation in 8th grade that caused me to want to change how I was perceived. Although my life had a lot of negative occurrences, I knew I didn’t have to go around making everyone else’s life miserable, I actually wanted to do the opposite. I wanted to be remembered as a shining light, especially for those in dark places.

By the time I got to my sophomore year of high school I became a more level headed individual, I still had my moments but overall most people remember me for being positive, funny and “always having something deep to say.” I worked really hard to not only be the type of individual I wanted to be, but also the individual I needed at that time.
