Rising Stars: Meet ShaQuita Beverly

Today we’d like to introduce you to ShaQuita Beverly.

ShaQuita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always love to write poetry, been a book lover, an avid creator, and lover of crafting. That runs in my family. I started my entrepreneurial journey at the age of twenty-two, selling hand-painted t-shirts, hand towels, and homemade handbags. I developed an interest in event planning while traveling throughout Philadelphia, PA and Pensacola, FL, experiencing networking/vending events. Deciding to combine the my love of creating and networking, I became an event organizer, promoter, and entertainment manager. Over the years, I have become a serial entrepreneur.

At the height of the pandemic, I like most people, did not have a job. I began to search the internet and came across a friend who is an independent jewelry consultant. I have always love unique jewelry, so going into a business like this seemed like a no-brainer. I have been an active independent jewelry consultant for over year now with a rank of Director and personally sponsored team of eight independent consultants.

My journey through entrepreneurship has led me into wonderful tribes of amazing business owners who have so many talents and gifts. I have had the pleasure of fusing together my love of crafting and business into helping the development of a network of entrepreneurs who pour life into each other.

Networking and working with these amazing people opened the doors to an opportunity to fulfill a dream of being a writer. Always a lover and writer of poetry, I wanted to publish my own poetry book. I had the pleasure of collaborating with a fellow jewelry consultant who happened to be a publisher. She invited me to participate in a project she was working on and I jumped at the opportunity before she could finish asking the question. Four months later, a complete project and the official book release is at the end of October. I’m now a published author.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been a smooth road but an enlightening journey. There were many bumps in the road because I have not gone to school for any of the business ventures I decided to pursue. Learning along the way can be challenging, especially when you are just running off of ideas and no real knowledge. I read a lot of books and watched a lot of Shank Tank to try to get a grasp on how business worked. Most of my business victories have been from faith, pure drive, and persistence. I never gave up on myself or my dreams. I’ve always believed, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” I’ve always made a way!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wouldn’t say I specialize in any one particular area as an artist. I am proud of every gift I have had the pleasure to share.

I am known for poetry, event promotion, entertainment management, jewelry consultant, and much more. What sets me apart from others, is my dedication to myself, my craft, and to those in my circle. I believe that if we do not breathe life into our environment and those in it, how can we ourselves elevate and be strong.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor can be challenging depending on what you are looking for. I found mentors in the people I worked around and networked with. Most entrepreneurs, in my experience, are happy to share and teach some of the things they have experienced during growing their businesses. In traveling and participating in many events, I learned to collect the information that was conducive to my goals in business.

My advice would be to make sure you are clear on where and how you want your business to grow. Be sure to do research on everything you don’t know or have questions about. There’re always ways to find knowledge in whatever you want to do. All you have to do is look.
