Rising Stars: Meet Nkem Obineme of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nkem Obineme.

Hi Nkem, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Baltimore from a Nigerian household. I played basketball and when that ended went on to starting my first business when i was 19 and now i run my own production company Highstyle Sundays and co own Laboca Tequila a Baltimore Based Tequila Company. Working with all type of people and creating a great community of people has taken my businesses to be featured on different networks and platforms from FOX45 CBS to ZEUS Network with our collab bottle Cielo Rose Tequila with another amazing Baltimore native DJ Sky High Baby.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has never is an easy road always some problem solving needed but i’ve always asked questions did my research and the most important is taking criticism and learning from it. I started Highstyle Sundays on my own as a podcast to a media production platform with help from great sponsors and local videographers in the community and helping them create there own platforms as well. Luckily I work with the business mogul and artist from Baltimore E Sosa the originator of Laboca Tequila. together we where able to team up and take our product into over 100 liqour stores, resturants and bars/clubs. We now look to go global from Baltimore to the rest of the world.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Baltimore, MD native and entrepreneur wearing a few hats on purpose. I co own a tequila company rooted in culture, community, and quality—something that represents where I’m from and the people I come from. Alongside that, I run a production company built to support creatives and artists by giving them real resources, real opportunities, and real-world experience. We create spaces where artists can actually work, experiment, and build strong portfolios instead of just chasing exposure. I specialize in building platforms—whether that’s a brand, a bottle, or a body of work—that tell authentic stories and move culture forward. I’m known for connecting people, spotting raw talent early, and turning ideas into tangible results. What I’m most proud of is helping business owners level up products and experiences walk in with potential and leave with confidence, credits, and a clearer path forward. What sets me apart is that I’m not just talking about community—I’m investing in it. I understand both the creative side and the business side, and I bridge that gap. Everything I build is intentional, collaborative, and rooted in Baltimore hustle with global vision. We’ve done collabs with DJ Chubby and SullyHot to put 17 artist on an album then filiming the video and making sure everyone was paid there royalties and promoted on billboards. Also on a larger scale we partnered with top 40 global female dj Sky High Baby who is a Baltimore legend residing in LA but globally recognized for a pink all natural first of its kind tequila. We also have the smoothest reposado available in stores and online as well.

What were you like growing up?
I was outgoing and always wanting to know more and do more. loved to be challenged played lots of sports but when that ended i fell in love with the competition and hustle of the business world.
