Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadja Pierce.
Hi Nadja, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve had a lifelong love and passion for the performing arts and fashion. From ages 4-15 the world of dance and musical theater was my safe haven. In 2017 Tonjia best the owner of salon Infiniti (a local salon on Charles st.) Asked that I be the face of her latest launch product, that some opportunity created a catalyst for my interest in modeling. Jeff the owner of jazzy studios further encouraged me to practice, study, and indulge in this new art. Over the course of 5 years, I’ve been published 8 times across the country, walked for Ontavia Roulette in NYFW, made news appearances, and more. Baltimore has been a place for me to embrace my differences and make an example out of my hard work and determination.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning how to cope with high functioning chronic depression and anxiety while being involved within your community was my greatest challenge. Understanding that the only way I could accomplish or even live long enough to see my dreams come true I would have to make room for healing and understand my illness doesn’t deserve that much credit. I worked tirelessly convincing myself that my purpose was way greater than the episodes that made me feel fatigued, hopeless, burdensome, etc. During the early phases of the pandemic that still plagues our world today, I reached a career-low as the industry was shut down with the rest of the world; I decided then that I had to focus on my solutions if I was ever going to get better.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Full transparency I love being an IT Girl. I’ve been mentoring, working, modeling, dancing, acting, etc since I can remember fashion is something that allowed me to express how I felt even when I felt like I didn’t have a voice. Getting to meet so many talented people in my travels, networking, and building bridges between colleagues, simply being inspired and being able to execute the vision.
What are your plans for the future?
Moving forward in the incoming year I’ll be resigning to a new agency, walking in Paris Fashion Week, seeing my billboards across the country. I want the people to see “Bo the Don” everywhere!!! I’m also looking forward to acting again. last but certainly not least starting my one-on-one coaching classes in 2022.
