Rising Stars: Meet Lauren O’Donnell of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren O’Donnell.

Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Just a mom living on the East Coast with a camera who fell in love when the world shut down. I started my business back in 2020 with a backyard elopement and a couple with a lot of faith. They skyrocketed me into an industry that I knew I was supposed to be a part of when I had my first wedding and had goosebumps and cried behind my lens the whole day. I now have been running my business for 6 years, loving every moment along the way!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As much as I love Rocky Road Ice Cream, the path to success has not been easy. When I first launched this business, I was living on my own and had become a single mother. After moving everything into a small studio space in Baltimore, the building caught fire and I lost 80% of my equipment. I took what I had left and focused on how I could grow. Thankfully my clients never lost faith in me. Five years later.. my own home caught fire. The support from the community astonished me in my recovery mentally, tangibly, and emotionally.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer! I specialize in wedding and elopement photography. It comes down to this: I LOVE LOVE! That’s what I celebrate. While also being there for my couple no matter what. I am the first person to put the bouts on the boys and figure out your bustle. I also know when to stay silent, and find those not on the list shots. Grandma watching speeches with admiration. Tears being wiped away during ceremony. First look moments that deserves utter silence, other than the couples love pouring out from one another.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I don’t drink any form of caffeine to get me up and going! I strongly dislike coffee, energy drinks, or anything super caffeinated. I thrive off of water and beef sticks on long days!
