Rising Stars: Meet Kyndal Baldwin of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndal Baldwin.

Hi Kyndal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kyndal Baldwin. I am 30 years old, born and raised in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland. I am a cosmetologist, marketing and brand strategist, book club founder, mentor, and the founder of a women-centered benefit organization called Women in Bloom.

I attended Bowie State University, where my journey into entrepreneurship and creativity truly began. Like many college students, I was navigating how to build a life for myself without struggling financially, while also trying to discover who I was. During that time, I fell in love with creativity in all forms. Although leaving college due to financial reasons was one of the most challenging decisions I’ve had to make, it ultimately redirected me toward my true purpose.

That redirection led me to cosmetology, where I discovered not only a skill, but a passion. I began my career as a shampoo technician and worked my way onto the salon floor as a full-time makeup artist and hairstylist. Through my apprenticeship, I developed a deep love for creative expression through beauty—especially makeup and hair. Over the years, I continued to evolve as a hairstylist, but I also realized that my work was rooted in something much deeper: my passion for empowering women.

My devotion to uplifting women has always been at the core of everything I do. At 18 years old, during my first year of college, I launched an all-girls mentoring program at my former high school, where I mentored over 35 young women throughout their high school journeys. That experience was foundational for me because it planted the seed for the work I continue to do today.

Years later, that same mission came full circle with the creation of my book and social club, Bloom Club Social, and the launch of my signature networking experience, Women in Bloom: A Night of Networking, which debuted in 2024. Through these platforms, I’ve created intentional spaces for women to connect, grow, and be inspired personally and professionally.

Today, I consider myself a multifaceted creative and entrepreneur, driven by purpose and passion. I continue to work as a hairstylist while also leading a growing community of women through my events and book club. In addition, I help clients strategically build and market their brands, combining creativity with business development.

Everything I do is centered around one mission: to help women see themselves fully, step into their power, and create lives they are proud of.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
t hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been growing pains, trauma, heartbreak..the list goes on. But one of my greatest challenges has been the constant need to bet on myself.

I’ve had moments where I was spending my last, investing in ideas when I didn’t have what most would consider “investment money,” and searching for capital just to keep going. There were times when all I had was belief n safety net, no guarantees, just a vision.

That’s the reality of being a creative. It requires a level of blind faith that most people don’t talk about. You see something before it exists. You believe in something before there’s proof. No one else can fully understand it until you bring it to life.. until you show them the result.

Learning how to trust that process, when it felt uncertain, has been one of the most defining and challenging parts of my journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear a lot of hats, but at the core of everything I do, I’m a creator and a connector. I’m a cosmetologist, a brand and marketing strategist, and the founder of Bloom Club Social and Women in Bloom spaces I created for women to come together, build, and really feel seen in their journey.

I specialize in bringing ideas to life, whether that’s through helping someone build their brand, creating custom units that make women feel like their best selves, or curating experiences where women can network, learn, and grow in real life. I’ve always been passionate about creating things that feel intentional and impactful, not just the aesthetic.

I think what sets me apart is that I don’t just do things for the look of it. While that does play a part, everything I create has intention behind it. I care about the experience, the details, and how people feel when they interact with anything attached to my name. I also am not afraid to evolve or pivot when something no longer aligns. I move with purpose, and I think people can feel that.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m really big on anything that helps me grow mentally and stay grounded, so I naturally gravitate toward self-help books. I like things that challenge how I think and push me to evolve, especially as an entrepreneur.

At the same time, I also love Black fiction—not to be confused with urban fiction. I really appreciate storytelling that feels rich, intentional, and a little magical or thought-provoking. It’s a different kind of inspiration for me.

Some of my favorite books are We Can Do Hard Things by Glennon Doyle, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason. Those are books I can revisit at different stages of life and still take something new from.

On the fiction side, I loved A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams and A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. They remind me that creativity, imagination, and even a little escape.

I also love Emma Grede’s podcast!
