Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Moya.
Hi Javier, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Javier Herrera Moya, CEO of Cloud Culture. Born in Panamá City and raised in Baltimore, I earned a full soccer scholarship to UMBC before serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer. As a veteran and fifth-generation farmer, I now teach the fundamentals of living soil organics, empowering communities to turn their yards into self-sustaining gardens that thrive year-round.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part is been great except for one occasion on the beginning of Cloud Culture. We hosted workshops across Baltimore, especially in underserved areas, helping people reconnect with the land, grow their own food, and cultivate a sustainable future together. We strive to helping those who need the help but most importantly those that want to get the help. One of the struggles early on were the kids purposely stomping and tearing the gardens apart at night when no one was around. On two different occasions we dealt with it on the same area.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being a 5th generation farmer and cultivator we created a unique style specialize in living soil cultivation to help others achieve perpetual harvest systems, showing that sustainable growing isn’t hard at all. It’s the easiest and the healthiest for our body.
I’m known for breaking down complex cultivation knowledge into easy to understand lessons through my series “CloudCulture GrowOff Course” where I document the real process of plant growth from seed to harvest.
What sets me apart is my mission driven mindset: I’m not just growing plants, I’m cultivating a movement rooted in community, wellness, and self sustainability.
What makes you happy?
I love creating something from nothing and watching it evolve with time, care, and consistency. I’m the happiest when I’m connected to nature, working with my hands in the soil, or teaching others how to grow their own medicine and food.
Helping people believe in themselves, seeing my students or community members take what they’ve learned and build with it. That’s real happiness to me. It’s knowing I left something better than I found it.
