Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezell Kent.
Hi Ezell, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Baltimore native, born and raised in East Baltimore before moving to Cherry Hill in South Baltimore at age 14. I graduated from Southern High School in 2005, then attended Woodstock Job Corps, followed by Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. After returning home from college, I was somewhat unfocused and found myself in a less-than-positive environment. One day, I saw a commercial for the Baltimore School of Massage and decided to apply. They accepted me, and I was fortunate to be mentored by Ineta Brady, Anthony Hinkle, and Juan Nance. Their guidance and support set me on a path of success. My first job in massage therapy required me to travel 4 hours one way, but I was determined and showed my commitment to the field. In 2020, I opened BEAR Hugzzz by Zeke Wellness, a business dedicated to providing a calm environment with a focus on pain management and integrated health. I furthered my education, returning to college in 2022 and earning an Associate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy in 2024. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come and the mentorship that helped me get here.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy road, and I’ve faced many challenges along the way. As a male therapist, I struggled to gain trust and acceptance, with many reluctant to work with me. There’s a certain aesthetic often associated with this profession, and I don’t necessarily fit that mold. However, what sets me apart is my skill and dedication—I am extremely good at what I do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I believe that creation is a valid gift of the creator. Living life and learning lessons, is the best recipe for creation.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe that luck is a mixture between. Hard work, dedication and patience.
I pursuing my greatest dream, and that is to become an actor, for I have always loved the art of creating!
Luck has played a great part in my life, I was casted as Goerge in Apple TVs
Lady in the lake in 2022.
