Today we’d like to introduce you to Ernest Clover.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For the last 13 years, Ernest P. Clover III, has served as Executive Director of the DC Dream
Center.
As a follower of Jesus, Ernest has always strived to share the Gospel through the way he lives his
life. In 2006, he earned his BA in history from Defiance College, continuing on to earn a
Master’s in International Relations from the University of Denver. With his newfound
credentials, Ernest began his professional journey in Washington, DC.
From 2008 until 2012, Mr. Clover worked as Executive Assistant and then Chief of Staff at
National eHealth Collaborative. In 2012 Ernest moved to his present position as Executive
Director of the DC Dream Center. As Executive Director, he has overseen, developed, and
helped lead the construction of the Dream Center building, the expansion of its programs and
focus, as well as its role and function in the community. In response to the March 2020 Covid
pandemic, Ernest initiated and developed the DC Dream Center response to support the local
community. Since the start of the pandemic, the Dream Center has provided 64,000 meals, 1
million pounds of fresh produce, and 100,000 nonperishable and hygiene items to those in need
in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virgina. Now Ernest is focusing the DC Dream
Center on broader community and individual development. The five pillars of which focus on
Education, Leadership Development, Communication, Community Development, and Economic
Empowerment. These focus areas will start with the individual, which then will impact the
family, the family impacts the community, the community impacts the city, and the city impacts
the world.
Ernest loves to read and play golf. He and his wife Rachel have been married for 18 years and
have a son, Dylan, daughter, Makenzie, and a son, Kai.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
