Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgette Class-peters.
Hi Georgette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From the age of three, I knew what my purpose was. I would be in preschool singing songs in class and my teacher would tell me that I was disrupting the class and tell my parents as well. That’s when I first realized that I was a singer. Growing up overweight with a severe speech impediment killed my confidence. So it was hard for me to show people my true self or express how I was feeling. Singing was the only time that I did not stutter. Over time I got rid of the stutter with speech classes, prayer and my family as a support system. I was able to speak clearly but by that time music and singing had been so firmly implanted in me that I knew it was my calling. In 2018 after the passing of my grandmother and father I realized that life is short, and I need to take control of my life. I lost 180 pounds which gave me the confidence to pursue my music career with full force. Over the last five years as a professional singer, I have had so many amazing opportunities by God’s grace. In 2022 I won Afro Pop song of the year at the Ghana Music Awards USA for my hit single “Follow My Dreams pt.3 ” ft Manhakim which changed my life. I’ve had the opportunity to sing with and collaborate with many of the greats domestically and internationally like Joe Mettle, Samini, Mog Music, Sefa, And Tiffany Evans as well as so many more. Because of all the favor of God and the grace that I have seen. Even though being an independent artist these days is not easy I know that I would not trade this journey for the world this is where my heart is. I aim to inspire young women especially and let them know that they are worth following their dreams and their flaws do not define them. My music is beautiful, melodic, inspiring, and centered around confidence, loving yourself, loving others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a woman and artist I have had so many challenges along my journey. But the truth is I have never had a challenge that did not teach me more about myself, the world or in the end make me a better person. I’ve had many obstacles in my path but also many blessings. One of the biggest ones I have learned thus far is there are no shortcuts to life. You must go through the journey and trust the process. Discipline and faith will get you to your goals way faster than a wish. Looking back the journey has been tough but blessed. It makes me thankful for God and my support system.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love all types of music, even alternative music. The expression of true art and a message is way more important to me than genres. People are people with stories to tell across race, age, gender, genres and more.
