Rising Stars: Meet Claire of Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire.

Hi Claire, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been working in the fitness industry since 1996 and am certified to teach many modalities including yoga, reiki, sound therapy, Yamuna Body Rolling, Shamanic Healing, and Pilates. I opened Studio Claire in 2012, training private clients out of my home. In 2025 I finally moved my studio out of my living room and into a 400 SF space just off Main Street in Old Ellicott City. Business has been excellent, and in February of 2026 I was able to expand to 1000 SF. Now I have space to offer group classes, workshops and teacher trainings. My first apprentice instructor will begin training clients in June, which is exciting because there is a lot of demand for Pilates in this area, and the new space has been quite busy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest part was the pandemic. Until we figured out how to train virtually, I had almost no business and it was quite a struggle.
It was great to have my studio in my house, but I was always dealing with keeping my dogs off the clients and trying to keep the place clean and tidy. It’s so much better to be in my own separate space, although now I have to worry about paying rent as well as my mortgage. However, my business has grown so much because I’m in this new space, and I’m able to teach so many different modalities

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in whole body wellness. When a client comes and we do the first consultation, we decide what practice will be most beneficial for them. Often it’s Pilates, but I also offer reiki, which is energy healing, as well as shamanic and sound therapy, so I can help with past trauma and also anxiety. I’m also certified in Yamuna Body Rolling and Foot Fitness, which involves bone stimulation, alignment and myofascial release for hands, feet and the whole body. Being able to offer all these holistic therapies greatly expands my client field.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience, calmness and listening. Offering a creative approach to healing.
