Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Fraling
Hi Christina , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely and thank you for this opportunity!
Hello friends. My name is Christina. I am a Certified Mental Health First Aider and the CEO and Owner of Virtual Oasis Meditation Service, LLC.
Located in Maryland and established in 2021, Virtual Oasis Meditation Service, LLC is a patent-pending service specializing in offering alternate reality meditation sessions to help guests better cope with the stresses of their daily lives. Sessions are scheduled and conducted within the Catonsville Counseling and Wellness Center located at 516 N. Rolling Rd in Catonsville, MD.
I began this journey in 2019. After ending a ten-year marriage, I became a single parent again. For the first time, I experienced anxiety and panic attacks as I worked to rearrange both my life and my children’s lives.
I wasn’t interested in traditional talk therapy nor was I interested in receiving prescribed emotional balancing medications. I don’t indulge in CBD or THC, and as someone who can be a bit introverted, group-based, self-guided meditation settings didn’t appeal to me. Additionally, it’s difficult for me to sit in the traditional lotus meditation position for an extended period of time.
What I really needed was to be alone in silence—to disconnect, decompress, and escape the chaos so I could breathe and regain emotional grounding. However, I struggled to find a space where I could do that—a place to escape the noise of my world, sit in peace, and gather my thoughts. I also felt like I couldn’t have been the only one facing this challenge.
After speaking with various people and conducting surveys, I discovered that I wasn’t alone.
Traditional meditation practices, though well-intended, can unintentionally exclude a large population of people—those who may lack the financial means or time to attend lengthy sessions, those with physical limitations preventing them from sitting in a fixed position for long periods, and those who feel uncomfortable in group or instructional settings.
Sometimes, people just need a silent moment alone to regain focus and clarity—allowing them to feel a sense of control over their thoughts and emotions.
Ultimately, I decided to create an inclusive service that accommodates not just people like me but anyone interested in an alternative approach to meditation. The intent of my service is to be a helping tool or an additional resource for those on their journey of emotional and mental wellness.
As the demands of modern life continue to escalate, prioritizing mental and emotional well-being is crucial. With the use of an Oculus eyewear device and an alternate reality meditation application, Virtual Oasis Meditation Service offers a safe, private, in-office quiet space where guests can relax and immerse themselves in an alternate reality meditation experience. This allows my guests the time they need to step away from everything and momentarily escape the chaos—to improve their mood and, hopefully, enhance their overall quality of life.
The #1 goal of my service is to help guests transmute negative energy into positive energy—one peaceful moment at a time. I absolutely enjoy seeing their responses of relief after their sessions.
In addition to the alternate reality meditation service, I’ve also created a holistic sleep aid candle called Whispering Dreams. This uniquely handcrafted flora blend sleep aid candle was created to help those who struggle with gaining a restful nights sleep that we all need and deserve. These soy wax candles are 100% holistic. They don’t contain any CBD, THC nor any other toxins and have been very helpful to those who are in need of a peaceful night’s sleep. The Whispering Dreams sleep aid candles come in three scents-Herbal, Lotus & Tilia and can either be purchased online via the website or purchased in store at The Sacred Space, 3524 Keswick Rd in Baltimore, MD.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Developing and growing my service hasn’t been a complicated journey. I am fortunate to have close connections with professionals in the medical field and behavioral counseling, who have provided valuable advice and guidance, as well as with other entrepreneurs. Additionally, I have received business mentorship through the SCORE program in Maryland, which has been a tremendous help.
I guess my struggle would be how to convince more people that, this is the mental relaxation service that they need but didn’t think they needed until they tried it and, content creation…LOL! I definitely need to improve in that area LOL! My goal for 2025 is for me to be more visual in promoting my service with the intention of bringing more awareness of it’s benefits.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Along with running my own business, I am also a Forensics Paralegal II, a position I’ve held for the past seven years. I can honestly say that I enjoy both positions. Working alongside scientists and data analysts, I’ve learned a lot about cellular structure and DNA which has been far more interesting and informative than it ever was in high school LOL!
What am I known for? I’d like to think that I’m mostly known and remembered for my honesty, integrity, and friendship. Everyone forms their own opinions of others, but I hope that, despite anything else, I’ve always projected the best version of myself onto those around me—doing the best I could in that moment.
Regarding what sets me apart from others, I don’t believe there’s any single quality about myself that sets me apart from others. However, I do believe that my ability to see myself in others allows me to extend grace. I’m also fortunate to have people in my life who, when I fall short, speak positivity and reason into that space—helping me shift my perspective. It’s not always love and light (LOL), but having a genuine village of support—people who understand me, uplift me, and want nothing but the best for me—makes all the difference.
What am I most proud of? My kid-dults, Sydney (24) and Omari (19) ❤️. I admire their successes, their growth, and their loving, fearless spirits. I’m inspired by how they dream big and then find ways to turn those dreams into reality. Even through challenges, they continue to push forward. I am proud of their strong faith and determination to keep improving. I will always be their #1 fan, and I’m beyond excited to see where life takes them next.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
A lot of my favorite childhood memories are from Saturday or Summer afternoons playing on the neighborhood playground with my friends. I’m a Gen-X baby and I personally believe that WE had the ABSOLUTE BEST time as kids despite what anyone else thinks :-D!
