Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Brooks
Hi Brandon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into modeling began in April 2023. It all started when a family friend, Lisa Parker, a celebrity hairstylist, saw something in me that I hadn’t yet recognized in myself. It’s funny—she stared at me for a full three minutes before she even said a word, and that was the first time we had ever met. In my mind, I was wondering, “Why is she staring at me?” Then, she finally broke the silence and asked, “Brandon, have you ever thought about modeling?” Her question caught me off guard, but I responded honestly, “I’ve thought about it, but I never knew how to start.” That simple conversation sparked something incredible. She asked about my availability, and by the following Sunday, I was in front of the camera at Jazzy Studios in Baltimore. That shoot went better than I could have imagined.
Since then, my life has taken off in ways I could never have predicted. Since April 2023, I’ve been in a movie, walked in the Baltimore Met Gala, graced the runways of New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week, and I’m now working with Downtown Locker Room on a monthly basis. Just recently, I had the privilege of walking in Summer Sizzle in the British Virgin Islands. It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m humbled and deeply grateful for every opportunity that has come my way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, I can say this journey has been remarkably smooth. Of course, there have been bumps along the way, but I believe that anything truly worth pursuing never comes easily. One of my biggest challenges has been stepping completely out of my comfort zone. Modeling was uncharted territory for me, and learning to own the camera is something I still wrestle with. Although I’m still in the early stages of my modeling career, I feel incredibly blessed for the experiences and opportunities that have come my way so far.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, my runway work is what ignites the most pride in me. My first show was the Baltimore Met Gala—the biggest stage in the DMV area. Stepping onto that grand stage for my debut was nothing short of electrifying. The intimidation was real, but so was the thrill of conquering it. When the show was over, I knew, without a doubt, that there wasn’t a runway in the world I couldn’t command—and I’ve been proving that ever since.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are several incredible people who have profoundly shaped my journey. Lisa Parker, whom I mentioned earlier, was pivotal in launching my modeling career and securing my first movie role. Lana Rae, who came into my life in 2023, has opened countless doors for me, offering opportunities that I could have only dreamed of— from segments on Baltimore and DC local news to hosting the grand opening of Prim & Proper in downtown Baltimore, and securing monthly bookings with Downtown Locker Room (DTLR).
Andrew Nowell, a phenomenal designer originally from New York, has also been a cornerstone of my growth. He believed in me, giving me the honor of representing his clothing brand at the 2023 Baltimore Met Gala—my very first show— and most recently at the 14th Annual Summer Sizzle Fashion Show in the British Virgin Islands.
I must also express my deep gratitude to the agency Model Most Wanted out of Baltimore, as well as Ashley Graham and Caitlan Beverly, whose coaching and support have been nothing short of invaluable.
