Hi Colyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my wellness company to help heal my own chronic pain from autoimmune disease. I wanted CBD products that I knew were reliably sourced and that actually was effective without breaking the bank. I started off in 2018 by selling infused Caribbean-style meals and drinks and then moved into making balms and scented oils for pain relief.
My most popular product is my CBD-infused Recovery drink, which is a blend of fresh pineapple, turmeric, and lots of ginger. My other drink, Sorrel, is an iced hibiscus tea blended with aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and of course ginger. All my drink ingredients are helpful for reducing inflammation and CBD has a myriad of health-improving functions including anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea benefits. Currently, Zima 360 Wellness products are sold at dispensaries and farmers’ markets in the Baltimore area.
I do ship across the country and I service many private clients in the DC/MD/VA area as well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been rough, especially dealing with payment processing and the legality of CBD. The laws are constantly changing and until there is federal legalization of cannabis, these challenges will continue to be present.
The Hemp Farm Bill passed in 2017 has eliminated the restrictions on selling hemp-derived CBD products, however, various states still consider it illegal because it is related to cannabis.
