Meet Victoria Yassem of Red Ball Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Yassem.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
My story is a loaded question; the length of short of it is that I am the president and founder of Red Ball Consultants and have spent 15 years of my 34 years on this planet in sales and marketing. I have a degree from Towson University- but I did it unconventionally. I dropped out of college when I was 23 and returned when I was 29, married with a full-time job and a mortgage. I walked across the stage at my graduation ceremony 4 months pregnant with my now 3-year-old daughter.

I started my company right before the COVID-19 pandemic while working full time, starting a podcast, raising an infant, and being a wife and dog mom. It was a crazy time, but I was able to grow Red Ball during the pandemic and continue to grow it. I had to learn how to pivot and run in different directions. I started the company to help the sales departments of blue-collar companies. It then morphed (quite quickly, I might add) into a full-service digital marketing firm that offers marketing consulting and sales training.

I now have 6 people on my team and have very strong growth goals. We are focused on making the process for clients a frictionless experience. That’s not without failure- and lots of it. We are open to trying something; if it needs to be changed, we change it. Staying open-minded and willing to change is vital to owning a business in today’s world. My team is my number one priority, and making sure they have what they need from me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but it hasn’t been horrible. Don’t get me wrong, some days the sky is falling and others it’s the best day ever. The struggles come down to communication. Ensuring the correct message is communicated to clients, and the team effectively has saved me a lot of headaches. The hardest time, though, was getting the company off the ground. I was working full-time, starting a podcast, starting my company, and being a mom to an infant, a wife, and a dog mom. It was tough- I had to learn time management real fast. I also learned to have the right people in your corner who are willing to give you a chance, support you, and not tear you down.

We’ve been impressed with Red Ball Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Red Ball Consulting is a full-service digital marketing firm. We specialize in content creation for social media, ads, email campaigns, website development, sales training, and marketing consulting. We are women-owned and operated by a team of 6 people. I am most proud of our culture. My team has no problem calling me or reaching out for anything. When a video goes viral- they text me; when a post is struggling, they call me. We work collaboratively to create the best content for our clients and have fun doing it! We all have experience or degrees in digital marketing and enjoy celebrating with our clients. We start from the beginning with all clients and figure out what is strong about their business and where the opportunities lie, and create a marketing strategy from there. A huge shout out to Nikki, Tom, Sonne, Julia, Jess, and Sofia! You guys are the best team a girl could ask for!

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
That’s a tough question. What matters most? On a personal level, my family and their stability and security. For the business, we are constantly growing and learning. And financial, obviously, yes. But as a business owner, I need to grow and learn from peers, classes, mistakes, and everything else I can, and the same with my team- every problem is a learning experience.
