Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Green-Williams.
Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey in the world of fashion began as a Certified Mastectomy Fitter in the Prosthesis department at Nordstrom. I worked closely with vulnerable, audacious women to fit them for custom post-surgical bras. Seeing the joy a seemingly understated clothing item could bring someone, showed me the connection between mental and emotional health and image positivity.
My clients and I would start with choosing their foundational items, but it wasn’t long before I was dressing them from head to toe, creating a fun and lighthearted experience through personal shopping. As I delved deeper into the world of client services with Nordstrom, an opportunity presented itself that would present me with two distinct career paths to explore; personal styling and event management.
The opportunity to coordinate an event for Susan G Komen grabbed my attention, offering the thrill of logistics and dynamism, thus pushing me to opt for the latter path. From there, I dove headfirst into event management—a world that taught me the essence of customer service, grace, patience, and introspection. After a decade of orchestrating memorable events, my experiences solidified my passion for creating meaningful experiences and fostering connections— reminiscent of the same joy I found in my first love, fashion.
“I wanted that old thing back”— and now I could apply those same principles of planning, service, and creativity to empower individuals through style. So, in 2021, I took the leap and founded Style By Tipp, blending my project management skills with my love for style and intentional living. Intentionality is the underlying ethos of both my brand and my code. My tagline, “Be You, Intentionally” encapsulates my belief in the power of intentional choices and authenticity.
Remembering the pure elation I could inspire through clothing for those women so long ago, I’m a believer that clothing is not frivolous or insignificant; it’s freedom
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, certainly not! Being an entrepreneur means wearing multiple (but all fabulous) hats – I’m my own marketing team, accountant, PR specialist, event manager, social media coordinator, brand consultant, and financial investor. It required a level of introspection, courage, patience, and flexibility that I never could have predicted.
Initially, I was fortunate to have friends and referrals book me, which kept me going for the first 8 months or so. But things got tough when I worked my way through my immediate network and needed to attract organic clients – people with no previous connection to me or my brand. I thought my previous marketing experience was enough, but I quickly realized there was much more to learn to continue growing my brand. Despite having a strong network and tapping into my resources, ultimately, I had to do it all alone.
Running a business that services clients demands more time and dedication than people might realize. Balancing client services, meeting deadlines, and managing every other internal aspect alone is a constant challenge. This is especially true while juggling a full-time job, pursuing my master’s degree, and making time for my family and friends.
Evolving the customer experience is an ongoing challenge. As someone from the hospitality industry, I believe customer service is paramount and can always be improved. I’ve continuously adapted and grown, identifying ways to better serve my clients, such as introducing a CRM system – technology that allows clients to communicate, navigate the approval process, and view their lookbooks digitally.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth, but I can confidently say that every struggle has been a stepping stone towards my growth as an entrepreneur.
As you know, we’re big fans of Style By Tipp. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Brand styling is the art of communicating yourindentitythrough your wardrobe. It’s often the first impression your business makes and the thing that could attract or repel your target audience. I love sharing an experience with my clients, infusing ease and seamlessness into what may feel like an overwhelming or unorganized process.
Through education and encouragement, I guide my clients in discovering, defining, and elevating their visual brand. Intentionality in life is important to me, which is why it’s a part of Style By Tipp’s core values. My goal is to help clients commit to a mindset of making intentional choices about how they show up to face the world. I am proud of so many things including taking the plunge into starting this business in the first place. Mostly, I am proud of my clients; for trusting not only me but themselves; putting themselves first, and taking risks to better themselves both personally and professionally.
My goal is to empower busy professionals and CEOs who struggle to prioritize styling or grasp its significance. I offer comprehensive solutions that transcend beyond purchasing labels to seamlessly align personal style with brand development. By delving into your identity and core values, I curate a wardrobe that speaks volumes without uttering a word. Moreover, I advocate vehemently for comfort, luxury, and self-care, because looking good should feel good too.
That’s why I’ve created “Be You, Brand You,” a four-part series designed to provide invaluable insights and practical guidance on leveraging personal style for professional success. Each class features exclusive input from industry professionals, including an Essence-featured photographer, a renowned hairstylist, and an Emmy-nominated makeup artist. I’m truly excited to expand and partner in this endeavor.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a bit of an introvert! Yes, I’m aware my chosen profession completely combats that narrative, but I have more than a few introverted personality traits many wouldn’t guess (such as a fear of public speaking).
I mentioned before, but many people are unaware that Nordstrom has a prosthesis bra department. I was a certified Mastectomy fitter for 3 years, having the privilege of assisting individuals during a pretty vulnerable time in their lives. That role was incredibly fulfilling to provide support to customers as they navigated their journeys. My time at Nordstrom set a foundational standard for personalized service and ignited a passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives through fashion.
So here is some irony for you- I hate shopping in the mall! The introvert in me recoils at the crowds and impersonal interactions some retailers can create. Now, here’s the twist: while I may not be a fan of mall excursions for myself, I relish the opportunity to uncover hidden gems when shopping for my clients. It’s almost like a treasure hunt, especially when I am shopping with a client; we get to discover hidden gems together, and I get to see “love at first sight” firsthand.
Lastly, I think many people underestimate how powerful and important styling is. Styling is more than just clothing; it’s about fostering confidence, self-expression, and empowerment, with transformative effects that can bolster professional success. That’s why Style By Tipp exists – to redefine its significance, champion mindful intentionality, and infuse joy and beauty into every corner of life.
