Today we’d like to introduce you to Therron Fowler
Hi Therron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
First Thank you for “seeing” me and being interested in my story
My story started long ago.
My dad (E. Ricky Fowler) was a celebrated Gospel Artist and Preacher right here from Baltimore and my mom, a popular hair stylist of her time and a creative in her own right. At 3 years old, they would stand me on a table in church to sing solos to the congregation and since then, I grew up in music and music grew in me and became LIFE.
Being a PK (preachers Kid), My dad always wanted me to sing Gospel and travel with the him but thanks to my mom who was more liberal, I appreciated other genres like R&B/Soul, Jazz, Rock etc.
By age 16 in High School, I landed my first background gig singing and touring with Soul/ R&B Legends like Cuba Gooding Sr. of The Main Ingredient and Philadelphia Soul Artist Michael Henderson and Jean Carne and other Artist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely Not a smooth road.
Shortly after High School, my father unfortunately died and life as I knew it changed. I dropped out of college.
Trying to remain strong for everyone else, I never got the chance to grieve properly until it was almost too late. I remember falling into a deep depression and being loss. I stopped singing completely because I was often reminded that I sounded a like him.
Although I loss my dad, I eventually found myself through my faith and foundation in Christ.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By nature, I am a creative.
Most people in the city know me as Therron the singer/songwriter and professional Background Vocalist, but I wear many hats and I work very hard. I am also a Vocal Music Teacher at the best school in Baltimore City Patterson High, I am a Worship Leader at New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, I am the Director of the Baltimore Urban Inspirational Collective that consist of some of the most talented young Artist/singers in our city. Lastly, I curate a dope Open Mic and Events Company called “Soul II Soul Entertainment” where I have created platforms for up and coming Artist to be heard and showcase their talent.
I’m most proud of my resilience to overcome in a city that is stereotyped and is often said “nothing good can come out of Baltimore”. Also, for the gift to “see” all the many beautiful roses in concrete shaped in talent and plant seeds and water the future young rising star singer/songwriters here in our region.
This is what sets me apart from other artist. I have always unselfishly shared or created platforms for others because I wholeheartedly believe that Baltimore has some of the best Talent in the World.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My Quote: “Your character and integrity behind your gift will take you further than your Talent”.
We are a resilient people, there is nothing we can’t bounce back from.
Stay Strong, Always be grateful 🙏🏾 and Keep God first and everything else will be added to you.
