Hi Tee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a simple but powerful goal: to make a real impact in my community. I saw firsthand how many individuals, especially seniors, veterans, and people on fixed incomes, struggled to find safe and affordable housing. The need was clear, and I knew I wanted to do something that could truly change someone’s life, not just talk about the problem.
That’s what inspired me to create a housing program called NewStart Solutions. We offer an affordable, structured program in a shared living environment. Our Independent Living Facility (ILF) provides clean and safe housing for adults who do not require medical oversight or staff supervision. Our program is designed to give individuals a real second chance at stability.
What started as a vision to help people has grown into a mission-driven business focused on serving the community. Today, NewStart Solutions is committed to providing accessible and affordable housing options that give people a real opportunity for a fresh start. At NewStart Solutions, we believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Our core principle, “Housing With a Purpose,” means we go beyond just providing a place to stay. We create an environment where individuals can rebuild, regain stability, and move forward with confidence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, but I wouldn’t change a thing. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right properties and locations. Not just any space, but ones that are safe, accessible, and in communities where our residents can truly thrive. It takes time, patience, and persistence to find environments that meet our standards and align with our mission.
There were moments of frustration, moments of doubt, and times when the right door just wouldn’t open. But every challenge we faced only strengthened our faith and sharpened our vision for what NewStart Solutions was meant to be. What kept us going, and still does, is seeing the real impact we make in people’s lives. When a resident walks through our doors and finally has a safe, affordable, stable place to call home and they say those two powerful words, “Thank you!” Hearing those words makes every obstacle we faced to get here worth it. Their success is our success.
There’s a deeper purpose behind everything we do, and that faith and sense of mission has carried us through every setback. I give God all the praise, because He has opened doors for us, literally and figuratively, and we’re just getting warmed up. The struggles, the lessons, and the lives we’ve been blessed to impact have only fueled our fire to do more, reach more, and be more for those who need us most.
As you know, we’re big fans of NewStart Solutions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
NewStart Solutions is a housing program based in Glen Burnie, Maryland. We serve the entire Baltimore area and surrounding counties. We provide affordable housing in a shared living environment for individuals 18 and older. Our program starts at just $26 a day, with all utilities included. This includes WiFi, on-site washer and dryer access, keyless entry, a drug and alcohol-free environment, and 24/7 security monitoring.
All of our homes come fully furnished, and we remove common barriers by not requiring credit checks or a security deposit. We can often provide placement within 24 to 72 hours after approval. Our goal is simple: to make housing accessible for everyone. We proudly serve a wide range of individuals, including veterans, seniors, domestic violence survivors, individuals in transitional or reentry situations, and working adults seeking sustainable and affordable housing.
We understand that finding affordable housing can be challenging, which is why we offer flexible payment options. Our program accepts SSI, SSDI, private pay, and community funded programs. We offer both weekly and monthly payment options.
We partner with case managers, social workers, and community organizations to help individuals in need access stable housing. What sets us apart is our approach. We do not just provide housing, we provide structure, affordability, and a sense of community.

What makes you happy?
My family, they have all poured into me in more ways than one. I relocated from Jamaica to Maryland with my mother and my sister. My mother was a single mom raising two kids, and she made a lot of sacrifices to provide for us. Watching her and my sister both go into the nursing field, being so caring and giving every single day, that had a big effect on me growing up. That spirit of giving, that drive to show up for people, it translated directly into who I am and what we’ve built with NewStart Solutions.
There’s a quote I live by: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” That’s exactly how I feel. When you’re doing work that truly matters, it never feels like a burden. Every day I get to help someone, not just getting them housed but changing their life. That person may have been homeless and now they are in a safe environment.
That fills me up the same way my family always has. You form a bond too, because sometimes you are the only family they have. My family gave me the foundation, and my work gives me the purpose. The two go hand in hand.
