Meet Tatiyana Canady of Skin by Tatiyana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiyana Canady.

Hi Tatiyana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in the skincare industry actually began doing makeup. A friend of mine forgot to hire a makeup artist for her wedding, and I had to jump in at the last minute to help! I did her makeup, loved it, and ended up doing makeup for friends and family for about a year until I decided I wanted to take my makeup journey to the next level.

From there, I enrolled in Von Lee International School of Aesthetics esthetics program. When I first entered esthetics school, my main objective was to graduate as a better makeup artist. However, I didn’t realize how much I’d fall in love with skincare and helping people feel confident in their skin! I loved building relationships with my clients and seeing them get excited as their skin got healthier. I could see some people’s confidence building right before my eyes; and I knew that this was my life work. I went on to work in many different areas of the beauty industry, from retail management to spas to medical spas, and have been able to really niche down on what I am passionate about. Working in corrective skincare now allows me to provide my clients with direct focus on their skin concerns and partner with them to achieve their skin goals. I feel so grateful to be able to be trusted by so many people to care for their skin and work with such amazing people everyday!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Because the beauty industry is so large, there are so many options to choose from. For me, my biggest challenge was deciding which service I wanted to do most! I have received certifications in lash extensions, multiple advanced makeup artistry certifications, lash lifting and tinting, spray tanning, full-body waxing and many Advanced Medical Skincare certifications. I had to remember that there is only one “me”! I love everything about the beauty industry, so as my schedule got busier, I had to truly make a decision as to what services truly made me happy and which services I could refer out. By narrowing down my focus, I’ve been able to provide the best service on treatments I truly love, which in turn provides my clients with the best experience they deserve!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed esthetician specializing in acne, age management, and pigmentation concerns. I am a paramedical skin revision therapist, which means that I take a whole-body approach to treating the skin. I have partnered with some of the best skincare companies in the industry, utilizing the most cutting-edge technology to deliver results to my clients. When it comes to treating the skin, I don’t just look at what presents on the surface, I actually partner with my clients to get down to the root cause of their skin concerns to deliver lasting and sustainable results. Education is key in my treatments because I want my clients to feel empowered to know how to treat their skin at home. I often liken myself to a “personal trainer for the skin” because of how committed I am to my client’s skin journey and how involved my clients are in their own personal skin journey. I am proud of being able to bring the DMK concept to so many people and help men and women achieve the healthiest skin of their lives!

What’s next?
In the future, I’d love to expand Skin by Tatiyana to be able to offer more treatments. My schedule books out 7-8 weeks in advance currently, so to be able to service more people would be amazing! I also am very passionate about education, especially in the skincare industry, where there are a lot of misnomers and internet trends. My clients trust that I will always give them the facts based on science and research. I plan to continue to educate the public on skincare and how to best care for their skin!
