Today we’d like to introduce you to Jawuan Wilson.
Hi Jawuan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Let’s see, I started modeling about 10 years ago for my Uncle who’s a photographer in Baltimore and he asked was I ever interested if I was there was a model call, I should try out. So, I took him up on the offer and showed up there and the rest is history basically!
From there it’s been kind of off and on but just recently I got back into it. It’s really been going week honestly, I’ve gotten cast for music videos, clothing line, and brand shoots, and even got to walk in NYCFW! And I’m currently working with the top modeling agency in the DMV called Models INC.
They’ve definitely helped me improve as a model to get to where I am today. This has definitely been an amazing journey thus far but I’m still looking to keep going and improve to become even better.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yeah, there have been some here and there. An initial one for me was college, I was in WV for a while not many opportunities to model. But when I finished my college career in DC more opportunities became available and I started going for more chances. But overall it’s been smooth once I started being more active and seeking more opportunities everything kind of just began to flow together
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Recently I got brand ambassador offers from different clothing lines. I feel honored that someone would want me to be in their clothes representing their line and their brand. Been a lot more active as far as traveling to different states for modeling opportunities expanding my network
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m actually an artist also I do custom clothing/shoes/ and also painting. I have my degree in health and fitness management along with a couple of certifications in personal training. I was a college athlete for all 4 years playing basketball won a good amount of awards and even a couple of tournament appearances along with a conference championship
