Hi Sherri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Three and a half years ago, I became a travel agent out of both necessity and passion. With raising three grandchildren full time, who are boys and I joke they eat a lot, I needed an additional stream of income. I am also an Accountant for the county in which I grew up as a child, Anne Arundel County, MD, as Annapolis is my hometown. At the same time, I’ve always loved to travel, planning, and the joy of helping others experience the world without the stress that usually comes with it so seemed like a good match.
What began as a practical decision quickly turned into a purpose. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of planning adventures across more than 20 countries and booking over $1.3 million in travel. Every itinerary, every all inclusive, every excursion, every once-in-a-lifetime trip is an honor to create.
Today, I’m proud of how far this journey has taken me; balancing my family, passion, and business …. and even more grateful for the trust so many travelers place in me to bring their dreams to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a travel agent has been, overall, a smooth and incredibly rewarding journey for me. My biggest challenges came early on – learning the industry as I had zero experience per se, understanding how suppliers operate and mastering how to create itineraries that truly match each client’s wants, needs and dreams. But once I found my rhythm, everything clicked. Since then, this path has felt natural, fulfilling, and aligned with exactly what I’m meant to be doing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sherri’s Fluttering Adventures?
I never expected that a childhood nickname would one day become the heart of a thriving travel brand. Growing up, my great-aunt Maddy lovingly called me her “beautiful butterfly,” a symbol of transformation, grace, and growth. Decades later, that same symbol has become the signature of Sherri’s Fluttering Adventures, a pastel-colored butterfly representing every chapter I have blossomed through, both personally and professionally.
Today, I am known for crafting unforgettable travel experiences across the globe. I specialize in all-inclusive adventures, standalone hotels, family and group vacations, honeymoons, destination weddings, anniversary trips, and “just because” escapes. Whether a client is heading to a tropical beach, a European city, or an adventurous new corner of the world, my mission is simple: make the process effortless, enjoyable, and personal.
I feel what truly sets me apart in the industry is my unwavering commitment to customer service. I treat every traveler the same – whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon or a spontaneous weekend getaway. I listen closely, pay attention to the details, and build itineraries that reflect my client’s dreams, not just their destination. My dedication continues long after the trip is booked: I track flights both ways, follow up consistently, send thoughtful branded thank you gifts, and always invite honest feedback through Google reviews because I genuinely value each client’s experience. I am so proud to be all 5-Star Google.
I believe that the level of commitment to all my clients has defined my reputation and fueled my growth as a travel agent. I am most proud of the brand I have built; one rooted in authenticity, gratitude, and heart. I enjoy helping others plan travel adventures because it is much more than a transaction; it’s a privilege. It is an honor that I do not take lightly, and it’s the reason so many of my clients return again and again.
Sherri’s Fluttering Adventures is more than a business to me. It’s a testament to the idea that with passion, purpose, and a butterfly’s touch, every journey can become something beautiful.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me truly happy is knowing that the 15 plus past years I have poured into raising my three grandchildren – years full of sacrifice, commitment, and endless advocacy – have made a real difference in their lives. Each of them has faced their own unique struggles, and throughout every challenge, I have been their biggest support, their loudest cheerleader, and their most determined advocate.
To look at them now and see how far they’ve each come – how they’re growing, thriving, and stepping into their own strength – fills me with a joy that’s impossible to measure. Their progress, their victories, and their resilience are the greatest rewards. The boys are now 17, 16 and 9. I am reminded every day that love, patience, and showing up consistently can change the trajectory of someone’s life.
That is my happiness. That is my peace. And that is what keeps me moving forward with a full heart.
