Meet Senica Lee of New Market

Today we’d like to introduce you to Senica Lee.

Hi Senica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Hip Hop artist and Actor from Severn, Maryland. I have been doing Hip Hop music since I was a kid and recently begin acting the last few years. I have recently been touring nationwide with Method Man and Redman and released four music projects available on all major platforms. I will be featured in five different films later this year in 2021. I was Previously on For my man (TV One), True Conviction (Investigative discovery), and Reasonable Doubt (Investigative discovery).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It never has been a smooth road but I never look at any of my journeys like a road. I look at my journey as just a path that I naturally choose to take. I “never” have any expectations I just do what I feel and I enjoy it. If something comes of whatever song I choose to record or whatever film I participate in that is great but I do it because it’s a passion, not a goal or achievement that I am trying to accomplish.

Don’t get me wrong it’s great to have goals and aspirations but my music and acting is all one big bonus in my life I am already fulfilled. So to answer the question long-winded lol… no struggles along the way just valuable lessons learned that have made me the blessed man I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Hip Hop music artist and actor. I am known for creating music and performing around the country. I am most proud of the fact that I get to work around another music artist that I grew up watching as a kid. It’s a blessing when you can be in the studio with someone like Treach from “Naughty by Nature” and he hears a song you working on and ask to get on it. That same thing happened with Inspectah Deck from “Wu-Tang Clan”. Seeing Method Man after your show and he gives you pointers and tells you how well you performed and later going out shopping with him.

These are the moments I absolutely live for in this music business it doesn’t involve money or conditions it’s just admiration they have for me because I represent hunger, I represent trying to be great and it motivates them. What sets me apart from others is I don’t go out of my way to be in these positions of doing shows or working with these artists. I just have fun and focus on being great and let my work speak for itself.

I don’t ask for handouts and I most certainly don’t compromise the integrity of my artistry or humanity just to fit in. I am a Misfit for a good reason lol. A lot of artists feel the need to compromise because they don’t recognize their self-worth or have the discipline to be patient and allow God to open doors for them.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see it thriving. I have been in forwarding motion and I have been taking notes and good advice from good people. I am my own business, I represent myself, my brand, and my own interest. Each day I try to learn something new. In five to ten years, I see myself mentoring other young artists and helping them achieve their aspirations.
