Meet Raven Ciara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Ciara.

Hi Raven, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started blogging when I was 21 years old. I would see an abundance of beautiful women sharing their fashion and beauty finds online- back when Tumblr was major. After finding the courage, I created my YouTube channel and made videos on my webcam. I would share my outfits and some “girl, what were you even doing” makeup tutorials! I would’ve never guessed a career and a passion would form from creating a YouTube channel.

Growing up, I was always the quiet person in class and for years, I was scared to use my own voice! I am living proof of the phrase “when you start walking in your truth, everything changes.” I’ve opened doors I never thought were possible and inspired a handful of folks along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Whew! Has it been easy? No way but it has been one of my favorite learning journeys. I always tell people that I grew up online. The girl that you watch on Youtube in 2011 is not the same woman you see now in 2021. I grew up in front of the eyes of my audience- it’s wild. The biggest thing I think I struggled with was imposter syndrome. I’m not sure when my anxiety formed, but I diagnosed myself a few years ago. There were times when I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a beauty influencer. I’ve taken breaks. I almost deleted my accounts a few times but, beauty is my passion. I couldn’t imagine my life without beauty products.

When I started blogging, I didn’t have any money. I was a very broke 20-something-year-old working at Ulta. My parents brought me a camera for Christmas; however, it died every single time I filmed. I put a couple of my paychecks together and I brought a super cheap camcorder. I’ll tell you this… every time I took a break, I always came back bigger and better than ever. When you’re following your passion, it will never leave you. Continue to pray, meditate on positivity, and make strides. Your hard work will pay off!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a part-time beauty influencer and my brand is called Beauty Maven Raven. On my online platforms, you will find dating advice, girl chat, positivity, makeup tutorials, beauty product reviews, and a handful of other beauty-related things. I like to share my love for beauty in the most relatable way. I have a funny sense of humor and I make sure it’s seen in all of my content. I also pretty frugal, so a lot of my beauty finds are affordable for many people.

I went to school for graphic design and video so I have a very keen eye for design and video editing- which helps my content a ton! I’m known for being that one beauty BFF who helps you find foundations, tells you about the latest beauty products and teaches you how to actually apply your makeup. I think that’s something that sets me apart. My content created with a ton of detailing and creativity and, occasionally, you’ll see me create a very artistic makeup look. But don’t mind me… it’s just me letting my creative juices flow from time to time.

I’m honestly most proud of the fact that I never let my passions run dry. Like EVER! My passions include social media management, being a beauty enthusiast, and being a good friend. All of those things came together and made a baby. And her name is Beauty Maven Raven.

What are your plans for the future?
I would love to turn my part-time influencing career into a big thing and move to LA. That’s honestly my biggest dream. I believe I’m a LA girl stuck in a Baltimore-livin’ gals body! I would love to create my own makeup line or collaborate with a few of my favorite drugstore brands. I’ve always believed beauty should be accessible to everyone no matter your budget.
