Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Ife.
Hi Queen Ife, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always enjoyed creating music from a young age. I got my first instrument, a Yamaha Keyboard from my parents when I was 4 years old. I’d practice on my own and play songs that I heard and liked. I also enjoyed songwriting growing up, wasn’t anything wild though or release-ready at all, just an outlet to express myself. I will say, 2020 lockdown gave me a lot of time to revisit my passion in music. At that point I hopped on TikTok and documented my creative journey and experimentations with music. At the time, I wasn’t very concerned with looking “perfect” but it was raw and unapologetically me. I experimented with recreating songs out of household items because it was very fun to mess around with and compose. It actually picked up a bit online where I went viral for that and landed on the JHud show early 2023. Shortly after, I continued the household items song remakes and had the chance to work with more than 25 popular brands, which was awesome, honestly! I want to explore all aspects of my musicality and I leaned more into my artist side later on and released singles very consistently between 2024-2025 as well as my first ever EP. I’m currently branching out as both an artist and producer, continuing to build my own sonic universe.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I will say, sometimes the balance between being a producer and artist was a struggle initially. I’ve been told by several people in the music space that I need to “pick one”. After a lot of self-realization and awareness, I learned that this is a superpower and it’s okay to be multidimensional. Being an artist has made me a better producer and vice versa.
