Meet Morgan Rosser of Cool Beans Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Rosser.

Morgan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Before becoming an owner, I worked in and managed multiple coffee shops, and that’s where I fell in love with more than just coffee — I fell in love with what it creates. The regulars, the conversations, the sense of belonging when you walk into a place that feels like yours. I knew I wanted to build that kind of space myself.

When the opportunity came to open a shop in Locust Point, my dad and I jumped in together. He brings decades of restaurant experience, and I bring the vision and a deep belief that coffee should build community. That’s how “Caffeine & Community” became our foundation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Ownership comes with a steep learning curve. There’s a big difference between working in a coffee shop and being responsible for every moving piece of one.

There have been long days and tough decisions, but every challenge has made us stronger and more intentional. It’s deepened our gratitude for the community that continues to show up and support what we’re building.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cool Beans Coffee?
Cool Beans Coffee is a family-owned, neighborhood coffee shop built around one simple idea: Caffeine & Community. We specialize in handcrafted espresso drinks, creative seasonal specials, and house-made food and pastries. Our signature drink, The Cool Bean, has become a customer favorite and really reflects our personality — fun, bold, and a little unexpected.

What sets us apart is the experience. We’re not trying to be a big chain or a transactional stop. We genuinely want people to feel known when they walk through the door. From remembering regular orders to partnering with local schools, small businesses, and charities.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how cohesive and personal everything feels. Our logo was actually designed by my brother-in-law, which makes it even more meaningful. From the mascot and merch to the way we name our drinks, every detail reflects who we are.

We want readers to know that when they support Cool Beans, they’re supporting something intentional, local, and built with heart.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I don’t see myself as a reckless risk-taker, but I do believe in taking intentional ones. Becoming an owner was a major leap. It meant stepping into full responsibility. Financially, operationally, and personally.

For me, risk isn’t about acting on impulse. It’s about doing the work, preparing as much as you can, and then having the courage to move forward anyway.

The biggest risk I’ve taken is betting on myself. That’s also been the most rewarding.
