Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Busick.
Hi Molly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After 10+ years working as a registered nurse, I found myself dreaming of a more creative path, one rooted in beauty and design. I’ve always had a passion for creating and could find an opportunity to make something beautiful in just about anything. Weddings and, of course, flowers always held a special place in my heart.
In November 2022, I reached a turning point, feeling burnt out I made the difficult but exciting decision to leave what I once considered my dream job in healthcare leadership to start my own business, and there, Three Little Buds was born. A name after my three beautiful daughters.
In the early days, I said yes to every opportunity. I designed for anyone who would let me, reached out to local industry professionals, and eagerly absorbed as much knowledge as I could. I started helping with weddings, learning through trial and error, when a high school friend asked me to design her wedding florals, it marked a true beginning.
Now, just several years later, I’m designing the kind of weddings I once only dreamed about. And just like I did in my nursing career, I lead with empathy and connection. I build real relationships with my clients, care deeply about their experience, and consider it an honor to play a role in such a meaningful day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business from the ground up has been no easy feat. To keep my nursing license active, I continue to work relief shifts when I’m not designing weddings and some weeks simultaneously.
Early on it wasn’t about profit; it was about growth. If someone asked me to make an arrangement, I’d wake up early before a nursing shift to create it, and my husband would deliver it for me. I spent evenings and weekends freelancing and dreaming about what this business could become. I spent a lot of time making connections with fellow industry vendors, using every opportunity to get my name out there.
Balancing it all while raising three daughters has been a challenge I’m not sure I could have fully prepared for. Even after everything I experienced working in healthcare during the height of the pandemic, building this business and making a name for myself has been equally as challenging. I quickly learned entrepreneurship is 24/7, it’s not for the faint of heart either.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Three Little Buds is a full-service wedding and event floral design studio based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We specialize in bespoke, garden-inspired floral designs that strike a balance between timeless elegance and organic abundance. Our style leans into lush texture, layered color palettes, and intentional details that make a space feel both refined and deeply personal.
We’re known for creating floral experiences that feel like a memory, rooted in emotion. One of the most rewarding parts of this work is the relationships we build. I take great pride in getting to know my clients on a personal level so that every floral detail feels like a true reflection of who they are.
As a self-taught floral designer, I’m especially proud of how far this business has come, from humble beginnings to building a trusted reputation in the wedding industry. There’s nothing I love more than when a client sends me inspiration and I get to transform it into a cohesive, artful floral experience that exceeds their expectations. I bring the same compassion and attentiveness that shaped me as a nurse into every part of this business. That same feeling I used to get while caring for someone in their most vulnerable moments is something I still experience on wedding days, just in a different form.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love collaborating with couples, planners, creatives, and brands who value intentional design and heartfelt service. If you’re a bride or groom looking for full-service wedding florals, the best way to connect is by filling out our inquiry form on our website. We’ll set up a consultation to get to know you, your vision, and how we can bring it to life through flowers.
For planners and vendors, we’re always excited to work alongside like-minded professionals who believe in creating seamless, beautiful wedding experiences. Whether it’s a styled shoot, a real wedding, or a creative project, we’d love to hear from you.
And if you’re just here to support, thank you. Sharing our work, referring us to a friend, or simply following along on social means more than you know. Word of mouth has been one of the biggest drivers of our growth, and we’re endlessly grateful.
