Hi Mathew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I believe that when God created me, he intertwined fashion into my DNA. As someone who grew up “living in my head”, the best way I could express myself was through my appearance, my clothes. If you want to know how life is going for me, look at my appearance, you’ll notice it. Fashion and my appearance were my creative playground. I strived to ensure that the limitations that I placed on myself with overthinking were broken. What better way to free yourself than to do the work and outwardly express it. I believe that this life is meant to be lived and to live to the highest God-given potential one can achieve. The sky is your limit.
As I began to do the inner work, I began to express it outwardly and the environment around me responded. I would have people asking me for outfit opinions and I would just style them. I noticed how confident they felt in the choices I assisted them in making. I saw how they lit up and how it made them feel. Not only on the outside, but from the light and joy that radiated from within. Their confidence shot up. That made me feel fulfilled. I noticed that is my purpose.
In September 2022, I decided to release Handsome by Hanson (A play on my last name). Handsome by Hanson focuses on styling individuals who seek more than just a look, but a transformation in and out. It’s not just about looking good in clothes but making sure that what you wear aligns with the person who we are and who we are meant to be, GREAT!
We provide a luxury styling service and work with individuals who seek to stand out and understand that they are hand crafted 1 of 1.
Thus far, we have had many creative ventures with our clients where the sky is the limit – there is no limit – when it comes to looks. We do not try to change your looks but enhance the experience of your optimal self.
If we can make sure that you leave with an experience that changes your perspective in life in a positive manner, then we have accomplished our purpose. To make everyone feel “Handsome” or beautiful. Haha.
In 2024, we are now LLC, and we continue to strive for greatness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said it has been easy. Handsome by Hanson makes me feel like a first-time parent who is learning their child’s personality, their wants, their needs, what they need at what time. etc. Understanding your baby’s needs is challenging because you must differentiate what they are crying for. Some struggles that I have faced along the way include knowing my value and place within the fashion industry. That required inner work. As I began to resolve inner issues, I understood that I was able to show up for Handsome by Hanson better and feed and nurture it to the version that it is today.
You know the saying “life be lifing?” Yes because life be lifing. However, the world goes on and just because we are going through busy periods in our life does not mean we neglect our responsibilities. I had to learn to prioritize what was important to me and deprioritize what wasn’t. Sorting through those distractions was easy but difficult to let go because of attachment. However, I saw the bigger picture which was how far I really could go? As far as I wanted. The further you go; you must leave the luggage behind. There will be new clothes to acquire when you get to the new destination anyway, right? So, I applied that to my life and BOOM! We overcame.
Whatever life puts me through, it’s important to sit and understand it but not to stay in it.

What matters most to me is “living life to the fullest by dying empty.” To me, life is about sharing the unique gifts I’ve been given and creating experiences that resonate. Every day, I strive to elevate and grow into my best self, ensuring that I can serve to my fullest capacity.
Life has a way of filling us with distractions, of pulling us away from genuine connection and self-discovery. But I believe in navigating these distractions thoughtfully, maintaining boundaries that allow me to give in ways that are impactful. Even a simple smile can shift someone’s day, so I’m always mindful of how each moment can affect what’s to come.
