Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary McCliggott.
Hi Mary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2017, my first child was born. Working a traditional 8 hour plus job became impossible for me and I wanted to spend more time with my son. I took the clients that I had and The Law Office of Mary R. McCliggott was born. Later, in 2020, when the pandemic hit, my husband joined me, we broadened our practice areas, and we became Leonard & McCliggott Law Group.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a relatively smooth road for us. The biggest struggle for me, personally, is managing the business while also practicing law. I am working on transitioning more non-lawyer responsibilities and tasks to other people.

Mary handles all aspects of civil litigation cases for her clients in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. She specializes in contract, debt collection, personal injury, landlord/tenant, family law, and certain employment matters. Mary has years of experience as an elite litigator and prides herself on her thorough, detail-oriented, and aggressive representation style. In addition, Mary leads the personal injury department of Leonard & McCliggott Law Group, managing each matter and ensuring optimal results for every client.
Mary is licensed to practice law in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. She is also licensed in the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Maryland.
What matters most to you? Why?
At the end of the day, we want to get the best possible results for our clients. Attorneys are expensive. We do not take that lightly. When a client invests in us, we put in the time, effort, and experience to yield an optimal outcome. Every case and client is equally as important to us. A happy client is what matters most.
