Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Fulmore.
Hi Lynn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today? Can you briefly walk us through your story?
Absolutely. Where I currently am has a lot to do with where I come from. As a native New Yorker, I was born with a different kind of hustle and fire inside. If you know anything about New Yorkers, you know we’re all about getting things done by any means necessary. As a child, I remember always being driven and focused. I was known for taking charge, being the organizer, and being the first to do many things. Fast forward to my college days. After graduating from Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and Morgan State University with a master’s degree in business administration, I became even more of a leader. Attending HBCUs will do that to you. Over the next 20+ years, I served in several management roles in corporate America, never once considering entrepreneurship. It wasn’t until April 2019, when I attended the Womanaire Reciprocity Retreat created by fashion mogul Milan of Milano Di Rouge, that I started to play with the idea of owning my own business.
At the retreat, I fell in love with women’s empowerment and women’s entrepreneurship. I was blown away by how successful and supportive the attendees were. In less than a week of the retreat, my mindset changed. Remembering that I’m a natural-born leader, I applied the leadership skills and everything I learned throughout my 20+ years in corporate America. I created my very first business, Mink Bawse Enterprises, Inc., which specializes in real estate investing and development. As a new entrepreneur, I faced many obstacles. I didn’t know the basics of business formation, web design, trademarking, copyrighting, and many other things. This lack of knowledge and resources left me frustrated and confused most of the time. After pushing through, I started brainstorming ways to help other aspiring women that were new to entrepreneurship. I wanted to provide solutions to the obstacles and struggles that we faced. I wanted to create a sisterhood of like-minded, supportive businesswomen. That’s when my first women’s business retreat, Boss Summit®, was born. I wanted to tap into something much BIGGER than myself, and with Boss Summit®, I am doing just that.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? No. Rewarding? Absolutely. In February 2020, when we planned to have the very first Boss Summit®, we hit the biggest roadblock: the global pandemic. Out of fear of the unknown, my three-person team dissolved, leaving me to reschedule, regroup and recalibrate by myself. Nervous yet confident, I kept planning and pushing because I knew in my soul that this was God’s plan and a purpose for me. I believed. I had faith. I never wavered. I understood the assignment, and most importantly, I knew wholeheartedly that this was something we needed as women and as female entrepreneurs. We need each other, and we need a sisterhood. So, I kept going. Well, in September 2020, it finally came together. After pushing the dates back several times, my very first Boss Summit® was SOLD OUT, and all attendees had the experience of a lifetime. Since then, we have held Boss Summit® every six months, and all of them have sold out. Won’t he do it?
What is the name of your business/organization?
Tell us about your business or organization.
Known as a luxury women’s business retreat, a level up, and the experience of a lifetime all wrapped in one, the Boss Summit® was designed to serve as a 4-day/3-night experience that equips boss-minded businesswomen with the tools needed to build their empires. Held bi-annually, Boss Summit® — also a 501(c)3 nonprofit — was created by me. Boss Summit® is an all-inclusive getaway with a purpose’ held in a luxury mansion tucked away in the suburbs of sunny Kissimmee, Florida. During their stay, boss ladies are poured into by way of the Boss Summit® University, which features daily masterclasses and workshops that are packed with a wealth of knowledge. Through the university, attendees learn from and network with 7-8 guest speakers who have not only built their successful businesses but who have helped build the empires of the top influencers and celebrities that we know and love. In their masterclasses and workshops, Boss Summit® speakers teach business licensing & trademarking, web & graphic design, business credit, business taxes & funding, logo design, content creation, branding & marketing, growth strategies, and much more. As if this isn’t luxurious enough, the ladies enjoy five-star breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals lovingly prepared by world-class female celebrity chefs. As part of the “Black Women Heal Too” movement, attendees, also participate in the Boss Summit® Transparency Session, which functions like group therapy and is intended to inspire the ladies to release, regroup and recharge.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets Boss Summit® apart from others is our impact. We truly provide the ultimate connection, sisterhood, and network. Since we’ve started, Boss Summit®has birthed countless partnerships, collaborations, and connections between attendees. We’ve also seen women get hired by other women they’ve met at the summit, and we’ve even had the pleasure of seeing two attendees discover that they are blood related. Another distinction is that Boss Summit® has a partnership with Lendio Prosper, a franchised financial institution owned by Ms. Ebonii Lachea that helps women fund their Boss Summit® life-changing experience with no money down and no interest if repaid within one year.
What are you most proud of brand-wise?
I am proud of so many things. First, I am incredibly pleased to be able to spread valuable knowledge. Second, helping others get over the same hurdles and struggles I once faced, is extremely rewarding. I created Boss Summit® to be a vessel, and thus far, it has exceeded my expectations. I’m so proud to see how it continues to change lives. Third, I am proud of the summit’s rapid growth in less than two years, Boss Summit® is officially a trademarked, non-profit organization. This means so much because I was told I could not do it.
What do you want our readers to know about the brand?
I want your readers to know how to tap in with us. Boss Summit® is always up to something BIG. Every Wednesday, tune into “The Boss Experience,” Boss Summit®’s official podcast, where female entrepreneurs share their stories. Currently streaming on all platforms with more than 1,000+ listeners and 45 episodes, the podcast is hosted by Brianna Gainey (@thee.digitalprincess). We like to call it “the best 20 minutes of your Wednesday.”
Boss Summit® gives a $1,000.00 scholarship to a deserving entrepreneur at each summit to help them further their education or to invest in their business. To date, we have had four recipients.
Boss Summit® also owns BOSS water. Boss water is the summit’s private label brand of spring water, launched in July 2021. For every bottle sold, one dollar is donated to support female entrepreneurship. It’s known as “The Official Spring Water for Female Entrepreneurs.” Follow us at @shopbosswater.
Boss Summit® is super excited to announce that we all taking fifteen (15) bossprenuers out of the country January 29th – February 4th for our “Boss Summit® Takes Dubai 2023” trip.
Finally, we are taking Boss Summit® on the road. Our Boss Summit® “MastHERMind Tour” will be kicking off late this summer. Our first stop will be Denver, Colorado ladies. We will visit ten (10) cities before we are done.
Where do you see the industry going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see even more women becoming entrepreneurs. Ownership is power. COVID-19 was a wake-up call for many of us, as we realized the importance of diversifying and acquiring additional income streams outside our 9-5s. Female entrepreneurs may never reach their full potential due to barriers that make funding, capital, and connections challenging. According to Forbes Magazine, black and brown women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the country. However, we are in last place for funding. This needs to change, and Boss Summit® is on a mission to bring about this change. We have a huge project brewing that will impact many lives and help female entrepreneurs get the access they need. As soon as we can, we will announce the project. Please donate and support us!
