Today we’d like to introduce you to Lovisa Woodson II.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story is a lifelong journey that started at the age of 4 when I had a dream that taught me how to braid my own hair. I’ve always been a creative person – applying my own press-on nails at 5 and spiral curling my hair at 10.
From the age of 7, I wanted to become a teacher and by 10 knew I wanted to be a business owner. I had my first taste of entrepreneurship at the age of 12 when I started making and selling jewelry to family and friends.
Now, I realize the significance these experiences had on my life and the paths I’ve chosen. I have a lifetime of experience in the beauty and creative fields working as a hairstylist and makeup artist, website and graphic designer, photographer, writer, and almost a decade as a licensed insurance professional. I’ve come to truly be a Jane of All Trades!
In July 2020, I decided to take a leap of faith and quit my job without a solid plan of what was next. Yet, I wasn’t scared. Just a few months later, I relocated from Philadelphia, PA to Towson, MD where I currently reside with my 2 boys, Logan and Lohan. It’s been quite the journey but I knew I wouldn’t find my way until or discovered what was next for me if I chose to remain in a job that I’d outgrown.
Though I’m proficient at many things, my passion has always been helping others and empowering women. Today, I’m the coach, visionary, and proud owner behind Women & Money Co., a full-service growth agency providing business and personal development services to ambitious women. At less than a year old, this is the first business that stretches me in ways I could’ve never imagined, but the rewards are priceless.
I’m often asked why I decided to be a coach. There are many reasons I chose this path but the main reason is I want to be the shortcut for women that I never had. We work hard to do so many things and we’re often forced to figure it all out on our own. A lot of women never realize their dreams due to a lack of time, money, resources, and the help required to design the life of their dreams.
I’m 100% confident I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has in some ways been smooth but there have also been many challenges. I’m a single mother of two sons so a lot of quality time with them has been sacrificed in order to make a better life for us. I’ve also had to balance building and investing in a business while working a 9-5 with limited money, resources, and energy.
Due to a lack of budget, I’ve been tasked with learning a great deal and wearing many hats as a solopreneur until October 2021, when I hired a virtual assistant. I’ve had to learn to build my own websites, design promotional materials, manage social media, and a slew of other responsibilities. It’s been very exhausting! However, it’s exactly what’s allowed me to finally open my growth agency (which started as only a coaching business).
Because I know what it takes to start, run, and grow a business I can empower my clients with the resources, guidance, and services to help them be more successful. My tests have become my testimonies.
The road isn’t always rocky though. I definitely enjoy some smooth sailing and I think it’s because of my obedience to God and willingness to do His work. I’ve been very blessed with a phenomenal support system of family and friends who pour into me and provide the appropriate help to continue pursuing my dreams. I would not be where I am without them.
God continues to show me grace and helps me get my desired results with ease in many cases. Although it’s been a lot of work – I work really really hard – I’ve been blessed to have everything I need, exactly when I need it. Some things flow to me so effortlessly. I’m grateful for all of it.
