Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a Philadelphia native, I grew up in a tight-knit family that loved nothing more than getting together for family gatherings. Inspired by her grandmother, who would host events intended to continue the growth of our strong family connection. These experiences sparked a dream in me – to create a space that honors special family moments and brings people together.
My goal of owning a venue where I could create a space for people to come together to celebrate all of the important moments in their lives, and was always something in the back of my mind. It was when my husband and I won our wedding hosted by a micro venue hosting a contest that I would know it was time to bring my dream to fruition.
That dream came to fruition in July of 2021 with the opening of the Sara Ellen Venue in Downtown York – named for my grandmother. At the time, the pandemic restrictions were lifting and we knew people were excited to gather together again. Then it happened – we found the perfect spot, a former dance studio with all the elements needed to host private events.
We got to work customizing the space to our vision and, as the final step, named the location after Lauren’s grandmother in homage to all the memories that had passed and all the wonderful memories to be made.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been bumpy but the struggles have been worth it.
When first opening we were one of the very few venues located in the area. You had the higher-end venue and the lower cost-effective fire halls. Since opening many venues have opened forcing us to be a lot more competitive in pricing as well as upgrading I hadn’t planned on making yet.

Sara Ellen Event Venue located in Downtown York features 2500 square feet of beautifully decorated space, it’s spacious yet intimate, classic yet modern. Our open-concept interior offers a multitude of ways to customize your event’s décor.
We have created a unique venue that embodies comfort, convenience, elegance, and luxury for all of our guests to enjoy! Sara Ellen Venue is ideal for hosting events such as Weddings, Receptions, Engagement Parties, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Graduation Celebrations, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Corporate Events, Conferences, Funeral Repasts, and many other types of events.
With several packages offered, we can be as DIY or as full-service as our client’s needs are.

Located off West Market Street, offers enough space to host 200 guests for standing cocktail events or 150 people at a seated gathering.
Our inspired setting and an extensive list of services will ensure that you and your loved ones have a one-of-a-kind celebration. Want a 360-degree photo booth? We’ve got it. Need tables and chairs? We’ve got them. How about themed lighting? We have that covered too. The venue also features a Bluetooth speaker system for guests to utilize if they want to stream their music.
Recently, we acquired the lower level of the building and are renovating it to host smaller events with less than 50 people. This new room will also allow weddings to have a more expansive space where a cocktail hour can occur while they transform the main room following the ceremony.
