Meet La’Shaeé Williams of AL•Luxe Xtensions

Today we’d like to introduce you to La’Shaeé Williams.

Hi La’Shaeé, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m 24 years old and was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I moved to Atlanta in 2014 after I graduated from Western High School to attend Georgia State University. My family still resides in Baltimore, so I travel back and forth often. I will forever love my city.

I graduated from GSU in 2018. I became involved in the hair industry when I was a junior in college. Of course, as a college student, I didn’t have much money to routinely pay people to do my hair, on top of my other financial responsibilities. So I turned to YouTube tutorials to learn how to make wigs. Initially, this was just a way to save money, but I fell in love with it.

Experimenting with different hair and transforming how you’re able to present yourself is thrilling to me. I feel that each look a woman wears, whether it’s a wig, her natural hair, extensions, or braids, shows off another side to her personality. Women are such multidimensional beings, and to see women realize that and their beauty when shopping with me makes everything worth wild.

Soon after wearing my own wigs, my friends would like the results and purchase wigs from me as well, and my clientele slowly started to form. After practicing and learning how to sow, I became interested in wig customization and selling hair extensions.

This is where my search for a vendor came into place. I wanted to provide people with quality wigs and hair that lasted a long time and were very affordable. It actually took me almost two years to find two great vendors that I get my Raw Cambodian And Virgin Hair from.

On August 6th, my latest inventory will drop along with my new branding name for my business. My business is no longer named “Haus of Slay.” It is now and forever will be known as “AL•Luxe Xtensions.” The new name is in honor of my late father, Alex Williams, who passed away when I was a freshman in high school back in 2010.

As my business advance to the next level, I want to keep his memory alive. As we interact and touch different people with our service and product, I want to create a memorable experience and help each see the beauty within themselves, just like my father did with every person he encountered on earth.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been one of the bumpiest of journeys I’ve ever been on, to say the least. Starting a business is extremely difficult financially when you struggle to provide the funds to invest in your business.

I’m an aspiring attorney/beauty bar owner. After graduating from college, the real world hits. There are no more scholarships or financial aid money to assist with your daily living. Dealing with working jobs that were barely enough to pay the bills made it extremely difficult to put money towards my business which is why it took me so long to get up and running.

When COVID-19 hit in 2020, my business definitely took a downward spiral. People were getting laid off from their jobs which meant that they weren’t making enough money to shop. I was definitely contributing more money to my business than I was getting out of it for almost a year.

My financial hardships definitely discouraged me from time to time, but I had emotional support from my boyfriend, family, and friends. I continued to believe in myself and my vision. I started to put money away a little until I could get the inventory needed. I also used social media to promote my hair and Wig line, which also helped me build clientele.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We sell raw Cambodian and top-quality Virgin hair. Along with hair extensions, we sell HD lace and Swiss brown lace closure wigs.

I am a one-woman business. I provide the client’s customer service, inventory, manage media exposure, and handle shipping.

We’re different from others because we provide that one on one customer experience. Here at “AL•Luxe Xtensions,” our clients are known as “Luxe Babes.” We provide affordable, high-quality products so that every woman can feel luxurious.

We are heavily interactive with social media. We encourage our clients to tag us in their pictures to see the women slaying like the BOMB QUEENS that they are. If we make them feel good, they’ll look good and stand in confidence of themselves.

We’re all about promoting women’s empowerment and embracing the beauty within you so that it can shine outward. This is something that, as a little girl, my late father would always mold into my mind, which is why I want to share that feeling with others since the brand is to keep his memory alive.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting?
Take the risk. Don’t count yourself out when life gets hard. When you bet on yourself, you can’t lose because you know what you’re capable of. Just keep praying and grinding… and the hard work will pay off.
