Today we’d like to introduce you to Karlen Williams.
Hi Karlen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are a family venue that began with my dream of hosting weddings. We are a rustic-chic barn venue. The farm was my grandparents’ farm when I was growing up, it was sold out of the family when they passed away, but my husband and I had the opportunity to purchase the farm 16 years ago. I always wanted to host weddings, we also improved our family and had 4 babies in 5 years. As our children got older the dream seemed closer. We began improvements and requirements and are now booking into our 5th season. The name of our venue came from that story, we are Heritage Restored.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I believe that the struggles are the road, we learn so much every week, year, that we are blessed to do this. We stressed about timelines and getting improvements completed in time for weddings, rain options for couples, details that matter on this most important day. But it does work out and when you are meant to do something I believe that you will feel that confirmation even in the struggles, and we did.
We’ve been impressed with Heritage Restored, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our couples and families are the focus and heart of our business. Serving them, loving them, walking alongside them throughout the year of planning, missing them when their day is completed. Our goal is to offer the best experience possible for our couples and families. They become part of the #heritagerestoredfamily. Our offerings are very inclusive but they come with that above and beyond service that is the heart of who we are.
We are different because of our focus; our reviews help to show that what our brand has become. I am most proud of that. That was our goal and to see that confirmation of what we have become is the most important aspect of our growth.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Flexibility and always listening. Most of the crisis was managed by having many many conversations with our couples and calmly helping with their fears and concerns. People really only need to feel validated and reassured that you are in this with them and you care about what they care about.
