Meet Karissa Cullett of Reilo and Seed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karissa Cullett.

Hi Karissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my beauty career over ten years ago as a makeup artist and beauty brand trainer, training for brands such as Hourglass Cosmetics, Natura Bisse, Caudalie, & Erno Laszlo, New York. I’ve always had a passion for self-care and helping others heal with clean, sustainable, natural products. Holistic Ingredients have always been extremely important to me, and I’m forever the girl reading labels in the isle, but the one thing I couldn’t ignore within the beauty community was the false narratives of perfection and unrealistic beauty standards. As a holistic skincare expert, I made it my mission to help folks understand their natural cycles and the importance of patience, self-love, and how anxiety and overthinking play a role in the health of your skin. Bringing self-love into the mixture was such an important aspect, so using my knowledge of luxurious skincare, holistic ingredients, and aromatherapy I created Reilo and Seed as a tool to help my clients manifest their best skin and best self.

Reilo and Seed is so much more than a natural skincare line, it’s a Ritual! Infused with aromatherapy and carefully selected ingredients, we believe the energy you bring to your Ritual is just as important as the ingredients themselves. In such a busy society, we have many routines that get us through the day, but we have neglected to feed our souls in the process. Leading a Ritualistic life brings meaning and value to the mundane. I don’t want your skincare to be something you feel that you have to do, rather a self-care practice that you truly look forward to. Reilo and Seed, Based in Baltimore, MD & we ship nationally through our online store or you can also find us in person at 10 Skyn Day Spa and Tree House Cafe and Boutique.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We launched our brand in September of 2019 and could have never predicted what would happen in 2020. Though the pandemic hit every small business pretty hard, we have felt overwhelming support from our clients and have managed to grow steadily, expanding into a local spa in the area.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We believe in healing the skin through a mind-body approach. We encourage our users to become in-tune with their rituals. The aromatherapy in each Reilo & Seed product will reinforce a state of peace and relaxation, bringing you closer to heart-brain compatibility, which allows you to manifest your best skin ever. Our ritual focuses on deep cleansing, hydrating, and the restoration of balance to the skin. We use unique ingredients that are gentle but powerful, such as Reishi Mushrooms, Black Cumin, Aloe Vera, CBD, and Blue Tansy.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just start. Take the first step and keep moving towards your dreams and goals. You don’t have to be aggressive about it, but take one step and watch the path be laid out for you. Your journey is going to be just as unique as your ideas, so don’t compare yourself or your progress to anyone. MEDITATE! I cannot stress this enough. Many times you will be overwhelmed and start to overthink. Meditation allows you to ground yourself and to see past the irrelevant chatter so you can access the answers that were there all along.
