Today we’d like to introduce you to Karenthia Barber.
Hi Karenthia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a consultant who operates at the intersection of education, business, and politics. I have helped over 200,000 individuals and organizations enhance their effectiveness and efficiency and/or advance their career or business. I have taught at the community college and university level and have served in both appointed and elected office.
I am blessed to come from a legacy of successful business owners. In fact, I am often asked what inspired me to become a business owner. The answer is simple…it’s in my DNA. As a child, I watched my grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings run businesses including farms, real estate, beauty salons, and retail stores. My maternal grandfather owned a farm and the only taxi service in Chester, South Carolina.
At the age of 9, I told my parents that I wanted to start a business. I am forever grateful that they embraced my goal and nurtured my entrepreneurial skills as I started my first business which was a snowball stand… Since that time, I have owned a number of businesses including real estate investments, a clothing boutique, and a consulting firm. As a businesswoman, I am able to continue the legacy of my family and impact generations to come while effectuating change in individuals, organizations, and communities.
My parents raised me and my siblings to love God, value education, and have a sense of civic responsibility. I am humbled to be able to advance those values by sharing my gifts, experience, and expertise to positively impact the lives of others. That extends to my role as a Public Servant, community advocate, and board chair.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have all been impacted by the pandemic, some more than others. As a consultant, speaker, and coach who was accustomed to traveling weekly to client locations… I instead watched dates disappear from my calendar. During the last 20 months, I have shifted to offering virtual consulting, facilitation, and speaking services. In addition, I have developed additional training programs and expanded my social media presence.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am uniquely positioned to help my clients…individuals and organizations move from where they are to where they would like to be. In addition, my unique background and expertise provides a broader perspective, coupled with a multidiscipline network of strategic partners available to my clients.
I am most proud of serving as the first( only) female board chair of Maryland Auto, providing governance and leadership for the 100 million dollar carrier. In addition, it is humbling to know that my services have positively impacted over 200,000 individuals and organizations.
As we move through and beyond the pandemic; many people are re-evaluating their career, life purpose, and choices. Whether you are trying to gain clarity or looking to grow or expand your business, improve your leadership, communication, or customer service skills…I would love to support you on your journey.
