Meet Jevone Levi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jevone Levi.

Hi Jevone, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

Hello, my name is Jevone Levi, and I first want to thank you for this wonderful opportunity to be spotlighted; such an honor.

From a young boy, I always knew that I was gifted. Being the only one in my household that loved the arts, I found myself performing for my family and friends. I would enter into school plays and sing in local talent showcases around the D.M.V area. As years went by, my love for the arts grew. The older I got, I felt more connected and passionate about being in the entertainment industry. Fast forward to 2015, a friend of mine, Dennis Williams, who owns a production company originally based out of Washington D.C. called LSS Universal, asked me to audition for one of the lead roles in his original stage play called “Forgiving But Not Forgetting.” This was my time to shine and show my talent as an adult, performing in my first major stage play, which happened to be in front of a sold-out crowd at the world-famous “Howard Theatre” in D.C. After our show received a standing ovation, along with rave reviews, I knew this was something I wanted to do.

Following the success of my performance, LSS Universals owner Dennis Williams wrote me into two consecutive stage plays. “Love & Therapy Gone Wrong” in 2016 and “I’ve Cried The Blues” in 2019, which I played alongside award-winning artist KeKe Wyatt and Avery Sunshine.

Shortly after wrapping up “I’ve Cried The Blues” I decided to pursue my TV & Film career. I always had a vision that I was destined for greatness; I just had to believe in myself and put in the work. I remember making a vision board January 1st of 2019, and on that vision board, I wrote down all my goals and aspirations for the year; I also added a few inspirational photos. I didn’t realize at the time that I was about to change my life. At the very top of my vision board, I placed a small picture of one of my favorite actors, whom I’ve always respected and admired, Mr. Denzel Washington. Six months later, I would find myself working on my first film with Netflix called “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” which was being produced by Washington and starring Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, and more. I had to pinch myself because it didn’t seem real. I was on set with greatness, and I was basking in it. Throughout filming, I would find myself glancing over at Denzel to make sure I wasn’t dreaming lol, and when he glanced back, I knew that my dream was in fact, my reality. I was so honored and humbled to be a part of that film, which sadly was Chadwick’s last film. Nonetheless, I was grateful for that opportunity and experience.

In 2020, I found myself in a weird place because this was at the height of Covid, and like everyone else, I was afraid for my life. So many people were dying left and right, and I felt like, if something was to happen to me and I didn’t get to live in my purpose, did I really live life!?! At the time, I was working a job of many years, that I wasn’t feeling fulfilled. One day I got the courage to say, “I AM DONE” It was time to continue to live my dream. A few months after resigning, I submitted my acting resume on Backstage and actors’ access to see what other opportunities were out there, and then BOOM! I get a call to relocate to Tennessee and join a dynamic tribute show called the “Soul Of Motown,” in which we performed songs from the Motown era, including The Temptations, 4 Tops, Stevie Wonder, and many, many more. I got to travel and perform on stage in front of packed crowds 6 nights a week. We even traveled to Las Vegas and performed at the “Westgate Casino” which was where Elvis Presley himself performed his residency in 1969.

Once my contract ended with the tribute group, I went back into TV & film. I ended up booking a leading role in TvOnes top-rated show called “Fatal Attraction,” “Snapped” on Oxygen Network, “Killer Couples” on Oxygen Network. I was also featured in “The First Lady” on Showtime starring Michelle Pfeiffer & Viola Davis.

In 2022, I signed with my first agency, ’I’ve since been featured in commercials, ads, and major projects.

Looking back on my journey, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am grateful for the ups and downs. I am excited for my future and what’s to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was absolutely struggle along the road, but I embraced the struggle. It allowed me to be resilient and built my character. I am the man I am today because of the struggle. I have auditioned for many roles, and my hopes were high, and was told no! I have been told, “NO” so many damn times, I’ve lost count lol! I’ve even questioned if I should continue my career, but soon as I start to question myself, I remember why I started. I HAVE A PURPOSE TO FULFILL. Don’t let the struggle scare you, don’t let the no’s deter you from what’s meant for you. Go get it! IT’s YOURS!!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a up and coming actor/entertainer. I specialize in acting/singing. I am most proud of never giving up on myself and going after my dreams. I believe that my personality and spirit sets me apart from others. I believe that there are so many talented people in the world, but there is only one you! People will never forget your energy and vibe, so I make sure that when I meet people and perform for them, I give my all in my performances, whether on tv or the stage, I leave a part of me with them.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to not let others define you. Be true to you. Don’t let this crazy world tell you that you can’t do it because you can!!

I will leave you all with one of my favorite quotes.
The chances you take, the people you meet, the people you love,
the faith that you have.
That’s what’s going to define you.
– Denzel Washington
