Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Penn.
Hi Gloria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started cosmetology school at (Thomas Edison Of Technology) while I was still in high school (James Hubert Blake) and earned my cosmetology license at just 17 years old in Silver Spring, Maryland. From there, I knew I wanted to get my foot in the door and gain as much experience as possible. I worked in hair salons and nail salons, sometimes as an intern to complete my school hours and other times as a paid shampoo or salon assistant. I didn’t care what position I had- I just wanted to learn. I would prep for clients, organize supplies, assist wherever I was needed, and pay attention to everything happening around me. Along the way, I realized that hair and nails weren’t where my passion was. Then I discovered waxing. I began watching waxing videos on social media, and found myself fascinated by the process. There was something incredibly satisfying about the transformation and seeing the results. The more I watched, the more I realized, “This is something I genuinely enjoyed. That was the moment I knew I had found my path. I eventually started working at European Wax Center, where I spent three years and was the youngest worker at the establishment. Those three years taught me so much, not only waxing but about clients relationships, professionalism, consistency and the business side of the industry. As I started realizing my value and wanting more room for growth, I made the decision to leave and open my own business in a salon suite located in Laurel, Maryland. As I continued growing in the beauty industry, I developed an interest in skincare and facials. I loved the idea of helping clients not only feel confident in their bodies, but also their skin. I invested in my education, continued learning about skincare, and added facial services to my business. Starting my own business wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be because I had prepared myself. I also had a solid clientele base and spent a lot of time researching, learning, practicing, and making sure I understood what I was getting myself into. Over time, that little idea turned into EverlastingGlo Aesthetics and getting it didn’t happen overnight. There have been slow days, moments of doubt, and plenty of times when I had to remind myself to keep going. But every client, appointment, mistake, late nights and every investment I’ve made into myself has helped me get there. Today, EverlastingGlo Aesthetics has maintained a 5-star rating on Google with more than 100 client reviews.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say the journey has always been a completely smooth road. While I felt prepared when I opened EverlastingGlo Aesthetics and was fortunate to already have a strong clientele base, owning a business came with challenges that I could not fully understand until I experienced them myself. Somethings I had to learn while taking care of everything was I am not only just the person providing the services, I am responsible for marketing, scheduling, finances, purchasing supplies, continuing education, creating content and so much more when you’re trying to make important decisions for the business. There’s slow days when you have to manage money a little differently because income is inconsistent. But not every decision will always be perfect as long as I try.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about EverlastingGlo Aesthetics ?

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
From getting my cosmology license at 17 and getting opportunities in salons at a young age to eventually working at European Wax Center, each experience helped prepare me for owning my own. I’m definitely lucky to have met people and clients along the way who contribute to my growth.
