Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Nucci.
Hi Gabriel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a young entrepreneur, starting a business up during high school, which was a power washing and neighborhood service business I started at 16 years old, which became a very successful business, we had multiple crew members, about eight-nine, all from local high schools. We did junk removal, hauling, pressure washing, and odd jobs. At the same time I was at Trade school, Thomas Edison high school of technology. I learned basic construction trades and basic electrical trade. Growing up before all of this, I worked in the summer or random days for either my Father or Uncles Construction company doing anything I could on the job. When the summer ended during around 2021, most of the neighborhood service workers for the pressure washing company went to college and I used savings and went into the construction industry, obtaining all the licensing, legal paperwork, website, shirts, etc, etc. That took months but finally I created Bethesda Brothers General Contracting with my older brother, and used savings to advertise heavily. Through good relationships and word of mouth, we have grown into a busy GC company, getting multiple leads auto generated per week now. We do not advertise anymore and have not since 2022. Another venture I was apart of was opening a bar, with my older brother again, we opened a bar on 18th ST NW, because I have experience with business legal work / licensing, I used my skills to obtain the necessary legal work to make that happen, and my older brother used his skills for the other work involved. The bar was a very crazy time, on opening night we hit capacity, there was over 125 people in small ground level one floor space, we actually ran out of liquor on opening night. I sold my share of the bar to focus on construction, but it is still open to this day and very successful, with my older brother still being apart of it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely not been smooth — it’s been a very rough sail at times, honestly more of a storm than a breeze. There have been many highs and lows throughout the process. There are moments when you question what you’re doing, when the leads stop coming in for a while, or when there’s no work lined up —this is especially true in the beginning.
Starting young added its own challenges, from building trust with clients to constantly learning on the go. I’ve had to teach myself everything from new technologies to architectural and building systems, sometimes figuring things out right there on the spot. Beyond that, there’s the business side — annual filings, licensing renewals, and all kinds of red tape that no one really teaches you how to navigate.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth — it’s been full of ups and downs. But that’s part of the journey for almost every entrepreneur. Every challenge forces you to adapt, grow, and push through, and that’s what ultimately shapes the business and the person behind it.
We’ve been impressed with Bethesda Brothers General Contracting, LLC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company, Bethesda Brothers General Contracting (BBGC), is a full-service general contracting firm serving the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. We take on both residential and commercial projects — everything from full-scale renovations and additions to retail build-outs and specialty structural or finish work.
What sets us apart is communication and accountability. We’re fast to respond, and if something ever goes wrong, we’re honest about it and fix it immediately. The reality is that a lot of companies in this industry fall short in that area — they go silent, they disappear, or they avoid responsibility. We’re the complete opposite. We keep our clients informed every step of the way and make sure they know exactly where things stand.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we get things done right. We actually read the specs, follow the guidelines, and don’t cut corners for short-term gain. In construction, cutting corners always comes back to bite you, and we don’t take those risks. We’re organized, detail-oriented, and on top of every moving piece.
If something has to get done, we’ll make it happen. And if it’s complicated — the kind of job most companies avoid — that’s usually the one we’ll take on. That’s the BBGC standard: communicate clearly, build with integrity, and deliver quality work no matter how challenging the project is.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think in the next 5 to 10 years, there’s going to be a major shift toward visual and technology-based systems — from drawings to invoicing to full project presentations. Everything, from small jobs to large-scale builds, will become more interactive and visual.
Instead of old-school pen-and-paper contracts or plain written estimates, clients will be able to actually see what’s being proposed — detailed visuals, renderings, itemized layouts, even digital walk-throughs of what’s being built or remodeled. It’s going to be much more transparent, streamlined, and visually driven.
That’s the new wave that’s coming — where everything is integrated, visual, and easy to understand — and I think it’ll completely redefine how contractors communicate and present their work.
