Today we’d like to introduce you to Eli Meir Kaplan.
Eli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I was always interested in creating and editing movies with friends. As an adult, I became interested in meeting people from different backgrounds and photography and realized the two interests joined together in photojournalism. I transitioned to commercial photography and directing in the same documentary style and still strive to capture authentic moments and emotionally compelling stories for brands.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a learning process because I never assisted and didn’t have a commercial photography mentor, so I’ve figured out a lot on my own through reading a ton, friends, social media, and learning from mistakes. There have been tumultuous times that have either upended our industry or paused it indefinitely. I’ve learned to keep my head down and keep working, and to make an effort to constantly learn and grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a lifestyle photographer and director specializing in capturing authentic moments and emotionally compelling stories. I think I’m really good at working with people–I love meeting and learning about new people. I’m also really enjoy productions, and I’m known as someone who can organize a team to produce large and small productions and make the client’s vision a reality.
How do you define success?
Great question. Being recognized and appreciated by your industry, having repeat clients that value you, and continued growth of your business.
