Meet DUSHYANT of The Columbia Center for Integrative Medicine

Today we’d like to introduce you to DUSHYANT.

Hi DUSHYANT, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I opened my medical business and clinic, The Columbia Center for Integrative Medicine in 2012 after I had finished my medical training at University of Maryland Medical Center in 2011; we started as a tiny 1-person only medical clinic in the 2nd floor of the historic Belvedere hotel, ultimately to open in Columbia as a collaboration with a host of other practitioners- physical therapy, weight loss service, acupuncture etc. I started my endocrinology practice serving the medical needs of women going through symptoms of inflammation during menopause, and within a year we started to develop a reputation in the area for quality medical care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Consistency of staffing was an initial challenge; some people were not meant to be in it for the long haul. Ultimately things stabilized when I met Elaina Heather in 2013 who grew to becoming co-owner and operations director of our company.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Columbia Center for Integrative Medicine?
Since starting in Columbia in 2012, we grew to open centers around the country, currently with 2 offices in Los Angeles, 1 in Charleston, SC, and we will be opening another in Temecula, CA this fall. We have a reputation as a chronic disease specialist, particularly in complex women’s health endocrinology

How do you think about luck?
We have tremendously benefitted from blessings; if the blessings have been interpreted as random, you could call that luck; if not, then they are surely divine! Seizing opportunities, practicing what we preach, honesty in business, and taking risks (with some measure) have turned these blessings into successes. We have had bad times as well, but recovered well.
