Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ezara Greene.
Hi Dr. Ezara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science, along with an Associate’s degree in Biology, from James Madison University. My academic track was both pre-med and pre-physical therapy. I went on to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University, graduating in 2017.
Following graduation, I completed a sports residency and became a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist. I am also a USA Gymnastics Medical Provider, covering premier USAG events at the local, national, and international levels across all disciplines. In addition, I am a nationally registered EMT.
My background extends beyond clinical practice. I have over 15 years of gymnastics coaching experience, working with athletes from recreational and Xcel programs through Levels 3–10, with a primary focus on optional athletes (Levels 8–10). I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, certified in concussion management, dry needling, cupping, and GymSafe screening certified. I am also proud to be a co-founder of the Gymnastics Medicine Medical Provider Certification.
Academically, I serve as an adjunct professor teaching Sports Medicine in Fairfax County and assist with Pre-Participation Physical Education musculoskeletal screenings. I also provide extensive sideline medical coverage throughout Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington counties.
My journey into this specialty is deeply personal. I competed in gymnastics from age three until I was 14, when I sustained a significant injury. I later returned to compete in college, but experienced another injury during my freshman year. Working with a sports-specific physical therapist during that time was transformative. His expertise and understanding of the athlete’s mindset and physical needs left a lasting impression on me.
During my junior year of college, I interned at a sports physical therapy practice and knew then that I wanted to work in outpatient orthopedics with athletes. In PT school, a business course required us to create and operationalize a mock practice model. Although theoretical at the time, it laid the foundation for what would eventually become Perfect 10.0 Physical Therapy.
Early in my career, I worked in high-volume outpatient clinics. While I gained valuable experience, I realized the traditional model did not align with the level of individualized, sport-specific care I wanted to provide, particularly for gymnasts. When COVID-19 led to my furlough, several gymnasts asked to continue working with me virtually. That moment became the catalyst for launching Perfect 10.0 Physical Therapy, initially as a telehealth practice in the summer of 2020.
As demand grew, I balanced building Perfect 10.0 with serving as a clinic director in a traditional outpatient setting, while also coaching gymnastics. Eventually, I reached a pivotal decision: continue treating Perfect 10 as a side venture and limit its growth, or take the leap and build it fully.
I chose to bet on myself.
I transitioned to Perfect 10.0 full-time and have never looked back. It remains the best professional decision I have ever made, allowing me to provide the specialized, athlete-centered care I am truly passionate about.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a completely smooth road. Like most entrepreneurial journeys, there have been challenges along the way. However, I’ve always viewed those challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
Owning and operating my own business, especially as a one-woman operation for the first five years, requires far more than a traditional 9-to-5 commitment. It’s a 24/7 responsibility, and balancing those demands has been both rewarding and challenging. I’m fortunate to have a very supportive spouse who understands the nature of entrepreneurship and the dedication it requires.
Because my business model is somewhat non-traditional, there has been a learning curve in identifying what strategies, partnerships, and mindsets align best with my vision, and which do not. A significant area of growth for me has been establishing and maintaining clear boundaries. Working out of a local gymnastics facility makes me very accessible, and as someone who naturally wants to help and please others, it can be difficult to say no. Over time, I’ve learned to better understand my value, respect my limitations, and uphold professional boundaries.
That has been an ongoing lesson, but one that has strengthened both me and my business. Each challenge has contributed to my development as a leader and entrepreneur, and I’m grateful for the growth that has come from those experiences.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Perfect 10.0 Physical Therapy is a specialized, mobile, cash-based physical therapy clinic dedicated to providing individualized, high-quality care, primarily to athletes in artistic sports such as gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading. What sets our practice apart is our focus on one-on-one, personalized therapy that prioritizes the whole athlete, not just the injury. From detailed initial evaluations to comprehensive rehabilitation and sport-specific performance improvement plans, every aspect of our care is tailored to our patient’s goals and needs.
Our approach is rooted in extensive clinical expertise and firsthand experience in gymnastics and sports medicine. This allows us to confidently support athletes through return-to-sport protocols that are both efficient and effective, often helping them return to the sport in half the time.
Unlike traditional clinics that rely on insurance billing, we operate on a direct-pay, fee-for-service model. This means our care is not dictated by third-party restrictions. We are free to spend the time necessary to educate, assess, and work collaboratively with our patients to achieve meaningful, long-lasting outcomes.
What truly sets us apart is our commitment to personalized care and deep understanding of the athletic population we serve. My background in gymnastics and continued specialization in sports physical therapy enables us to create treatment plans that are both sport-specific and performance-oriented.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built within our athletic community and the positive impact we’ve made on athletes’ health, confidence, and performance. Whether helping someone recover from injury, improve movement mechanics, or prevent future injury, our mission is to empower athletes to reach their full potential and to feel confident and understood every step of the way.
Ultimately, I want readers to know that Perfect 10.0 PT isn’t just about therapy it’s about athlete-centered care, education, and long-term performance improvement delivered with expertise, passion, and integrity.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very much a classic Type A, first-born personality. I was highly organized, at times almost to an obsessive level, and extremely self-motivated. I consistently aimed to be at the top of my class and held myself to high academic standards. In fact, I wouldn’t allow myself to play with friends until my homework was completed, a rule I set for myself rather than one imposed by my parents. Responsibility and achievement were always important to me.
I was also naturally competitive and very driven. When I set a goal, I pursued it with determination and focus. While that sometimes translated into being stubborn, it also meant I was decisive and clear about what I wanted. I had (and still have) a strong sense of discipline and follow-through.
Outside of academics, I was full of energy and deeply involved in gymnastics, which played a significant role in shaping my work ethic and resilience. I also loved singing and performing, which allowed me to express a more creative and outgoing side of my personality. Overall, I would describe myself as ambitious, energetic, and motivated, traits that have continued to influence both my personal and professional life.
